With seven ,sets in the high
school "alone. A lot of people
fireiklu:of being a -twin,
especially an identical twin.
Most people think it would
. be "filh".
• This week I interviewed
people around Seaforth and
found. out just how "fun"
being a twiti is. When I think
of all of the twins in Seaforth,
it's really hard to pick out
certain ones who could give
meonswers. I did my best;
• and picked out different
types of twins. (eg. girl -boy,
identtca , older and faterna1).
When thinking of an older
set of twins in town, the first
set that came to my mind was
Mrs. Forrest and Mrs.
MacDonald (nee Scott),
mostly because I've had my
own experience with them.
Being a cashier at Roth's
Food Market, I see a lot of
customers during the week.
One day . at the beginning
of the summer When I first
worked at the store, I smiled
at one of the customers at
another till. Seconds later I

Mrs; Forrest and Mrs.
MacDonald were shopping'at
the siune time, and still
occasionally do. This ca'n be
very conftiting for a cashier
or salesman. •
When -I asked "Have you
even had any funny ex-
periences?" poth recalled'
people like me confusing
theni. They have. two sisters
and one brother.. Both ladies
felt that they feel- closer to
each other •than to ,their
sistersand brother.
Mrs. Forrest didn't think
that being- an identical twin
was ever hard on her.
"We were always called
"The Scott Twins" but we
got used' to that." Mrs.
Forrest explained. "The
nicest thing of being a twin,"
Mrs. MacDonald thought
"Was always having a close
friend. We still are very close,
we confide in each other."
- Almost all of the people
that I talked.to said that they
felt closer to their twin than
to another sister or brother.

All said that somewhere
along .the line they were
labelled. "The twins" or
"Twin."
SuSan' and Sandra Hulley
are very identical twins who
say they've always liked
being twins. When •I asked if
they had any funny ex-
periences, between the tw o
bf them thy came up with
quite a 'few.
"In public school, we'd
switch classes. That nigl.ht
the teacher, would find out.
The next day he caught onto
us and sent me back to my
class and Sandra to her class.
The funny thing is" that. we
didn't switch classes that day
until he switched us!"
Susan explained "When
people phone us, they ask for
"the twins". Then my
parents say "Don't Vou.know
which one you want?" Also
when we look at photo
albums, no one including
ourselves can tell which baby
is me and which one is
Sandra."
When I asked Susan if she
was closer to Sandra she
answered "Probably
because we're together all
the time-. A couple of weeks
ago I babysat my ne phew.
. -
Since - he was so used te
seeing both of us together all
the time, he thought- Sandra
was hiding, even though' she
was at home." Susan felt
that at times, being a twin"
wasn't too easy.
"Sandra helps me a lot in
school and teachers think I
should be just as good as she
is without help."
• WE FIGHT MORE
Debbie -Strykker has 'a
twin brother Danny. She
didn't think that being twins
made them closer..
"Sometimes we fight more. I
.forget he's my twin."
• ' Debbie finds it hard to be a
twin at times because they
are compared at school and
she hears about Danny's
mistakes through her
friends. The nice thing about
being at twin "is that you
have someone your own age
to talk to:"
In the last year, two of the
approximately 20 teathers at
S,PS became parent of twins.
Paul Dyck said that his twin
boys have adjusted to -

other is settled.' "At the

Eddy Nielsen said that he

he was closer to Tony than to
