- -We-- were aB --very
pleased this week by the
performance of our Cross
Country team. Even though
conditions at the meet were
less than ideal these young
athletes gave the competition
their best. Mr. Nicholls, their
coach, felt they all did a fine
'job.
On Thursday, Oct. 23rd a
very successful Open House
as held at the school. We
had more than.80 percent of
our families represented.
It was good to see so many
of.our former pupils again.
Final plans are in the maki94g--Monday, Oct. 27th was a
for the Vanastra & District Professional Activity Day.
Christmas dance to be, held
at the Rec. Centre on Friday.
November 28th.
RECREATIONCENTRE
On Monday, Oct. 20, the
Monday Night Group Which
includes Braemore Manor
and two Exeter group homes
were treated to free ccffee
and donuts supplied and
served by the Vanastra &
District Lions Club. Anyone
interested in taking a crafts
course, please phone the
centre at 482-3544. Bingo
winners this week were: 1st
share -the wealth -Alice Bran-
don. Bayfield; 2nd share the
wealth -Ivan Mocan RR#2.
Blyth: 3rd share the wealth
Wayne Dowell, RR#2. Clint-
on; and Edna Adams RR#2
Wroxeter. Jackpot was won
by CryMal Taylor of Londes
-boro.
The V.P.S. staff travelled to
Wmgham to pprticipate in
wortdhops that...were under
the•directiZyn of Arnie MeCal,
lum, Language Consultant
for the Windsor. Boards of
Education and Dr. D. Mor-
genson from the Faculty of
Psychology, Wilfred Laurier
University. The day was very
worthwhile indeed.•
' On Friday afternoon Oct.
31st we are planning a
Hallowe'en party at the
school starting,at 2:45 p.m.
For this reason our Kinder-
garten class will meet in the
afternoon instead of in the
morning that 'day. • Some
Way person will wip a giant
pumpkin. A costume parade
will take place with prizes to
be awarded. A 'funny vege-
table contest will also .take
place with prizes going to the
most creative entries,
R-efreshments--Aill- be -pro-
vided by the Vanastra Public
School Choir. Proceeds from
the refreshment Aales will be
used to pay the Choir's
•admission to a performarice
by the Brass Coinpany next
month in Blyth. You are

ges towards the Vanastra
Fairness Fund are requested
to make these payments to
•Evelyn Garland or bring the
money to 86 Victoria. More
contributions are needed to
pay the legal expenses on the
O.M.B. hearing. A full fi-
nancial report will be pre-
sented in due time.
