Council voted unanimously
have representatives ot
the Ministry of Revenue
proceed with a re -assess-
ment- of township property.
In a preliminary report,
y representatives
Jerry Morgan and Don Ker -
nick noted that. some resi-
dential properties were over:
assessed while others were
under -assessed. In the new
assessment, council stressed
that there be no increases on
properties where owners are
on fixed incomes. They
learned, however, that the
Ontario Residential Tax _Re-
bate and the Farm —Tax
Reductiori program would
handle such increases.
Council decided to hold
workshops in January to
• altow residents to the new
property assessment. The
workshops will be handled
individually, and they may
appeal to the Assessment
Review Court if they feel
they have been unjustly
assessed.
The council passed a by-
, law, which, if approved by
the Ministry _of Natural
Resources, will be used to set
maximum fees for huntieg
licences for pheasant and
rabbit in regulated hunting
areas. _
