By: ALICE GD3B Last summer, they donned beanies, wrote funny Autobiographies, exchanged memories and generally had a "really good time." "They" were the 1970 Grade 13 class of Seaforth District High SchVol. This summer they held a reunion at the White Carnation in Holmesville to catch up on a decade of their lives. Gwen (McLean) Devereaux said "we were a really close class" and added the graduates found' ail was as if we'd never been apart when we got together at the reunion." First, the former SDHS students donned beanies with the school crest. Then they were asked to compose their autobiography stretching the truth if they wanted to, Gwen said. These stories were then read aloud, and the rest of the class had to guess whose life. story they were hearing. Almost three quarters of the class attended the get-together, including Laurel Hemingway. Laurel, who now lives in Kenora with her husband, won the prize for coming the furthest distance. She flew down to the reunion leaving her husband behind to battle the forest fires burning in the area at the time -at least that's what the master of ceremonies said. The reunion invitations were sent out by Gwen Devereaux and Angela (Devereaux) McLean to all the graduates they could locate. In the ten years since they graduated, class members have gone to university or cxillege, started and sometimes changed careers. 'lived abroad, married. had families and spread across Canada.
