The Mary Eliz- abeth Jackson' 'Award, .S500 to be given anntlallY, in memory of his wife by Her, bed Hinton of Acton was won byAnnette Branderherst. The Jackson Award (Mary Jackson Hinton was an Sea - forth Collegiate ' Institute graduate) will go annually te a student entering Sir Wil- fred Laurier University who will benefit froth a university education and shows • some financial need. • The donor cannot really afford this award. We stretch ourselves to •stay in contact and do something for the youth of Seaforth," Mr. Hin- ton explained. Joan Sills accepted the award for Miss Branderhorst who was un- able to attend because of a family wedding. Horace Brandon, a liaison officer with VVLU also took part in the preseritation. Seaforth resident Kate Teall presented the James R. Scott Communications A- ward of 5100 in memory of her father to Grade 12 stu- dent Paul Ellis. Mr. Scott, a writer. kacher and historian was also an SCI alumnus. Paul was cited for his excel- lence in communications through his writing and pho- tography in the local paper. Speaking 'for the 1980 graduates were Denise Lane for Grade 12 and Jayne -Baker for Grade 13. Both were chosen by a vote of fellow students. Other awards and their winners included:. TIT Calvin Presscy Memorial Award for the Grade 12 student show- ing leadership presented by Karen Pressey to Denise Lane. The Alumni Memorial Award for academic and other codtribution was pre- sented by Ann Hansen to Jayne Baker. The C.M. Smith Memorial Award for the highest marks at SDHS was presented by David Onn to Grade 11 student Doug Jew.
