Angela Tyndall is feeling
better after her operation
and, will be back with us
soon. On Tuesday Sept. 30
the Homemakers from -Cone-
stoga College 'started their
visits again. Two of them will
be in every Tuesday frork,
now until December helping
us out. In the last couple of
weeks we have had some
new children start at the Day
Care Centre: Sandra Lobb,
Kimberly Hollinshead, David
Billson, Jason Chapman and
John Pigg. we hope they
enjoy their days with us.
VANASTRA RECREATION
CENTRE
A special program has
been set up fox the Vietnam
Refugees attending Cone-
stoga College and living in
Vanastra, including instruct-
ion in sport t and movies.
Vanstra Centre will offer a
course in Junkcrafts begin-
ning Thursday evening Octo-
ber 23rd from 8:30 to 10p.m.
Classes will be limited to 15
participants. For registration
or information please phone
482-3544. Vanastra Public
School began a pool program
on Friday Oct. 3rd. Seaforth
Public School also started a
similar program last week.
To the tune of "Onward
Christian Soldiers" the co-
lour party from Brownies,
Cubs, Guides and Path-
finders led eight groups from
Sunday School up to the
lions Club down the aisle to
begin the 200th Birthday
Celebration of the Founding
of Sunday School.
Several niernhers_of _the_
church were dressed in old
costumes and the church was
decorated with streamers
and balloons thanks to Pam
and Melinda Mantel and
friends. Wanda Goulding
gave a narration on the
history of the -Sunday School
and Jan Ferguson read a
Bible Story. Sincere thanks
to Chris Bylsma for her
beautiful singing and guitar
playing.
The Sunday School chil-
dren presented the church
with two banners to be hung
b the church; they also
presented Pastor Mantel
with a fragrant candle to be
Et every Sunday to remind
that Sunday School is an
important part of the Church.
The winners of the poster
contest - Mary Mellor and
Michelle Govier. After the
message "Every community
needs a Sunday School" the
Training Program in Missis-
sauga this week.
VANASTRA PUBLIC
SCHOOL
We have already come to
the end of the first month of
this school year. On Thurs-
day October 23rd, an Open
_House will be held at the
school from 7-9 p.m. Parent -
teacher interviews will not be
held at this time. Private
-1Iterviews will be scheduled
on Wednesday November
26th.
If, for some reason, you
would like to meet with a
teachEl before the 'date
please feel free to phone the
school at 482-7828 and Make
arrangements for such a
meeting. Next month the
newsletter will be offering
the Vanastra Community a
new feature - a Classified
Section. If you have anything

After the regular opening
the Brownies and Tweenies
c5vided into groups to work
on their Golden Bar. Golden
Hand. and Tweeny. Before
the girls can be enrolled they
must know their Promise,
Motto, Law, meaning of the
smile and good turn. Grand
Howl and be able to print
their name and addiess. This
takes a lot of effort and
practice so parents you can
help by quizzing your
Enrollment date will be set
up shortly.

The guides also enjoyed
movies and a half hour of
games in the audirorium.
The Guides are working on
preparing for their enroll-
ment to' be scheduled short-
ly.

the Lioness enjoyed a fun
night at the Vanastra Recrea-
tion Centre with the Lions
