would kndw because °rids business the best buys in places
to si4y, ,That meant going back eventually, to the hotel we
stayed in our first time thrOugh, the Hotel Liz.
It was hard to forget the 'Liz', First, it was close to
everything you would want to be close to - the mosques,
downtown and the Grand 13azaar. The second reason I'll
never forget. The hotel gave out cards for guests and
potential guests, and had the captivating. title, "How. to
Come to Hotel Liz". Certainly not the Istanbul Hilton, and
certainly not guided by a stroke of grammatical genius.
A TratiCISH BATH
T- here is one thing a person should do when he is in
Turkey - have a Turkish bath. They are. not unlike steam
baths (sauna in southern• Ontario). You don't get a swim
afterwards, but the buildings are impressive. They are all
marble, including high pillars and fountains.
If you have money, you should have your bath before you
eat. They work up healthy appetites in bathers,.along with
clean bodies, and will alittle hit of cash you can feast later. If
you have a few kinks in the system, which can happen after
four days on a train, then have the masseur, who invariably
looks like a suma wrestler, give you the once over.
To those without experience, a person getting a massage
must sound like the victim of a murder in progress. It is a
symphony of bones cracking, punches landing and painful
groans. lt doesn't take long before you are wondering just
what you have gotten yourself into, and the last thing you
would want to do is insult one of those steel fisted giants.
Somehow, however, between the time you roll painfully
off the table and when you are ready to leave, your body
begins to feel like a finely tuned machine. It was one of the

few times 1 expect to feel that way in a lifetime.)
I would think someone (perhaps a Turkish immigrant) has
started a Turkish bath op somewhere in this country, but
I've yet to find it. Unfortunately -he'd probably be compared
to those infainpus 'massage parlours' which grace the shady
second. storeys of Toronto's Yonge St. The Turkish would be
just that.
That, at least for a while, brings this trip to an end, but
perhaps it will be picked up a little further down the line.
The actual trip, though, didn't end for another four months.
Some fascinating things did happen between Istanbul and
: Toronto International.

Benefit fund to financ
health unit building
• BY SHARON DIETZ
The Executive Committee
of Huron County Coaticil
reported at the September 29
meeting that funding of the
Huron County Health
Building, to be constructed
at the Huronvicw Home for
the Aged in Clinton, will be
possible through a transfer of
funds from the Employee
Benefit Reserve Fund.
An auditor's report, com-
pleted for the year ending in
December, 1979, Indicates
S380,000. can be transferred
from the fund to the Capital
Works Building Reserve
Fund and still leave a
balance which will be well in
excess of the total liabilities
of the Employee Benefit
Fund.
County Council approved
the recommendation to
transfer the funds which will
finance the new health
building. The new building is
required because the county
health unit staff in the
Clinton office is working in
cramped quarters now, and
the staff will likely triple
when the additional home
care programs are added to
the county program. in the
next year.

-*Troy. A visit to the famous town's mitt's *ere a Must. A
central feature of the ruins, (a regular feature 'in many
ancient towns) is the theatre, Whiell Was also th0 tnoSt,
intact part of Troy. From the lookouts there is an endless; flat
leading out to the sea, and with a little imagination one can
picture the great Trojan horse being rolled across the'prain
and up to the gates. •
Further down the coast, a six hour bus ride for $1,75, was
the port town of Iztnir. On the day we arrived, another group
dropped into town, It was the crew of the USS Kennedy,
7,000 men on what surely must be the largest aircraft carrier
around, at the time anyway.
