CENTRE
On September, Sth th-e
Township of- Tehersmith
officially opened the new
addition to make the facility
accessible to everyone, es-
pecially those in wheelchairs.
The addition consists of a
new activity mom which can
be used for classes, meetings
and new and larger change
rooms, a large exercise room
with a brand new 14 station
global gym unit.
Many new- programs are
being offered by the centre
this year that includes indi-
viduals who are unable to fit
into a regular aquatic or
fitness program. Clientel to -
include mentally handi-
capped, Senior Citizens,
arthritics, asthmatics, stroke
victims or any other physical
disability. Parkinson's
Disease Club and Multiple
, Sclerosis Unit will also be
held. After school volleyball
and basketball for youths
(male and female) 8 yrs. to 16
yrs can be offered. Any
interested parties should
contact the centre at 482-
3544.

terested in forming a New
Horizons Group. for Tucker -
smith and Vanastra please

The church is receiving
organizational and spiritual
support from the Stratford
Christian Reformed Church.

action at Vanastra Public School
Things are pretty well
back to normal at the Vanstra •
Public School. • (\.
Our library general pur-
porse room is starting to take
shape. Everyone is waiting
patiently for the new hooks to
arrive from the Huron
..County Library.
Clubs are starting. Mr.
Nicholls started practices for
our cross-country runners on
Monday. So far we have had
a good turn out. On Tuesday,
Mrs. Cooper had the first
choir practice. We are hop-
ing to have a few new
activities this year. If any
members of the Vanastra
community have skills that
they would like to share with
our young people. perhaps a
dub couldbe started with
your help. You can volunteer
by simply calling 482-7828.
-We will be conducting our
swimming program again
this year. All of our children
from grades one through six
will he able to take part. The
oast for eight twenty -minute
visits to the pool will be S2..
The program will take place
each Friday in October as

teachers with the opportunity
for a mutual exchange of

Spiriival Care Committee.
The minister Peter Mantel
serves as chairperson on this
committee. Among other
matters this committee is
considering the matter of
church membership. Com-
mittee members will visit the
families presently atsociated
withe church.
Onday school is still held
at 9 a.m. before the service
which starts at 10 a.m. Since
this year is the 200th anni-
versary of the Sunday School
movement, the Sunday
School superintendent Jan
Ferguson with her teachers
is planning a big birthday
party on Sunday, Qctober Sth
as part of the morning'
service. All children and
parents of the community
and area are welcome to this
special party. Then beginn-
ing Sunday, October 12th the
church is planning to have
the Sunday School at 10 a.m.
with the service following at
11 a.m.
During the week the
church is also a busy place.
From Monday through
Friday Conestoga College is
using the church facilities for
teaching English to a class of
Vietnamese refugees. On
Tuesday. •_ ..and • Th u rsd ay
mornings the auditorium and
annex is busy with nursery
school children and mothers
taking their turn in charge of
the program. On Wednesday
evenings the Pathfinders
find their way to the church.
Soon the Come Alive Pro-
gram arts and crafts will be
held on Tuesday and Thurs-
day evenings again. This is a
program for boys and girls.
This full program leaves the
church available for occa-
sional meetings on Monday
and Friday evenings. Last
Saturday the minister Pete
Mantel and two representa-
tives from the church Jan
Ferguson and Norma Gould-
ing attended the 23rd Annual
Christian Reformed Sunday
School Convention held at
the Woodland Christian High
School outside of Breslau.
Many useful and practical
hints about music in the
church was the topic.
