It started out as softball game. but
Sunday's match between the unnamCQ,
Roth's Food Market team and the
volunteer fire department's Smoke Eaters
was more along the lines of an all-out water
fight.
The result was foreshadowed when part
of the Smoke Eaters team arrived atop
an aging and out -of -service fire truck,
complete with hoses and pumps.
No official score was available, but
everyone agreed that Roth's won. arid a
score of 15-5 sounded as good as arty.

TALK ABOUT STEALING A BASEI—Using a bit of ingenuity; Roth's

plate. When Smoke Eaters catcher/goalie Ron Broome tried to tag her
out, Joanne sat on the base while Mike Bedard interfered. Then fireman
Bill Eisier got into the act, when the catcher was aetain'ed. Despite efforts
by Mr./Miss Eisler, and with the aid of Mike, Joanne finally made it
home safely.
