This is the beginning of the kids' school year.. This is the beginning for some of us to have children starting.school. This is the beginning of the leaves changing colour. This is the beginning of cubs, scouts, brownies, guides, Lions and Lioness for another year. This is the beginning of Kalorie Kounters for another year - dieting for next year bathing suits. This is the beginning of fall cleaning- getting rid Of the summer dust accumula- tion. This is almost the begin- ning of the duck•season., This is the beginning of the winter clothes coming out of storage and the summer ones going away. This is the beginning of bulb planting for Spring. This is the beginning of apple season. This is the beginning of my new career as the Vanastra Voice Correspondent. Registration will be on Thursday, September Ilth at le at 'the Vanastra Chris- tian Church. The fee is S2 a month for the first child and a SI a month for each additidnal children. This nursery school is for children 2 (accompanied by mother) to 4 years of age. Mothers are required to help out once a month. There are many new faces at the Tuckersmith Day Nur- sery, both with children and staff. Our new staff member is Susan Norris of Staffa. Susan retently graduated from AMIN AIM Ail AIMS A Conestoga College in Kitch- ener with her Early Child- hood Education diploma, a twoyear -C-Fniiie. The children and staff were busy last week decora- ting their rooms for the opening of the new addition at the Recreation Centre on Friday night. Brownies will be meeting on Tuesdays from 4:00 - 5:30 in the Vanastra Rec. Centre. Guides will be meeding on Wednesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 at the Vanastra Rec. Centre. Pathfinders is newly formed group sponsored by the Lioness' for girls ages 12 to 15. Pathfinders will meet on Wednesdays at the Vanastra Christian Church from,7:00 - 9:00. ' Rgistration for cubs was held on Monday September 8 however, if you did not register, contact Jim Thomas at 4829467 after 6. -This is for boys 7 to 10. Boys must be 7 on registration day. The fee is 510 accompanied with an OHIP number. Cubs will be meeting on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:00 at the Vanastra Rec. Centre. On September 20th the Vanastra and District Lioness Club will be celebrating their first anniversary by hosting a 50's dance at the Vanastra Recreation Centre. Tickets are availagle at the door or from. any Lionois member. Music will be provided by • Public School. We would lik&to welcome one new face to the staff. There will •• be various contests with prizes and a buffet meal at • the end. • • Although it is just a year • ago on Sept. 14th that the Vanastra qui District Lioness • officially became chartered through Lions International, it has been a very active club • and has accomplished a greal ; deal through various activi- ties. The members have raised enough to donate 51,00 to the expansion of the Recreation Centre and to donate two trophies each year to the Vanastra Public School for the two most outstanding Grade six students. They are involved in numerous other activities. If anyone is interested in joining this organization please contact Sharon Bonte- Gelok at 482-3700, President oflioness. On Wednesday Sept. 3rd. the Vanastra and District Lions Club held their first dinner meeting of the 1980- 81 Lions year. A special guest, Lion Paul Rivers from the Goderich Lions Club was on hand.
