residents crowded into the MorriS Township
Hall on Monday night to discusplans for
,the,townShip's 125th birthday in 1981,
Also at the meeting was Brussels reeve
Cal Krauter who offered congratulations to
the township and invited the people to hold
their celebrations in Brussels. Reeve
Krauter said there were i couple of parks
that people could put trailers in. "I'm
hoping we'll have the sewers by then, but I
won't guarantee;" he said, 41
-11e-alsaid the -arena- could-frold-alornf
functions and that if they were going to hold
meetings, that there were. meeting rooms
ere.
'We wish you all the succesS with it and
anything Brussels can do to help;ave'll do it:'
he said.
One Man suggested that perhaps they
could hold the celebrations in Belgrave and
that the new park in Belgrave might be
ready by that time. Bill Snortreed from the
Walton Recreation Association sato that
Walton had a big weekead this year (with
the opening of the new recreation centre)
and were considering having another big
Walton weekend. with Morris Township as
the theme. "We could possibly have it as a
prelirde to the grand celebrations."
It was later decided that something could
be heldin Walton on the same weekend as
the big celebration.
Since school reunions were a big part of
the celebrations when Morris celebrated it's
100th birthday in 1956, it was suggested
people might like to sto something similar
again. In the end it was decided those at the
meeting would -contact somebody from each
school section and they in torn would contact
people who used to go to that school.
These people are then to come to a public
meeting at the Brussels. Morris and Grey
Community Centre Monday, September 8
at 8:30 to discuss the setting up of various
committees.
People at the meeting decided they would
like to hold their grand celebrations on the
holiday weekend from July 31 to August 3,
1981.
