, Florence Elliott returned
home on Sunday after a
six-week holiday, tweweeks
with her son Ross and his
family of New Liskeard, and
the remainder of the time
with Bruce and his family of
Aurora.
The Chessells' house was
re -shingled pretty fast on
Saturday with assistance
from members of the family
and many Hydro friends,
plus Bob Webster next door
and young Steven Taylor
with tractor and loader. They
were finished by mid-after-
noon. .
I see a number of grand-
parents have out-of-town
grandchildren visiting, in-
cluding Bill McAsh's,
Mervin Johnstones, Bill
Taylors and Bill Chessells.
Bob Speir has finished
painting the interior ofVarna
church, with the exception a
the choir loft, which he will
do after repairing a • leak.
While the pews are still out,
the floor is being refinished.
At a meeting on the week-
end,
the stewards decided to'
put a drain on the south side
of the church and change the
slope of the ground on the
north to rectify the problem
of 'Surface water getting into
the basement.
, Church services resume
next Sunday, with an outdoor
service at Stanley Park on the
lake followed by the annual
picnic. Beverages will be
provided.
