' By now, most 'readers willlikely ,be aware that, the Expositor challenged * the staff of Roth's Food Market to a • 'softball • genie SOMetime•last Month, and finally the Big. Game is at hand. Mich preparation • has 'gone into 'the match, and very little hard Work as well. ' The impending competition has raised • interest among most of the office employ- ees here at the paper, as we tried to organize a team, and pick a snitable name from the dozens of entries in the "Name -bed The Bed News, Beavers, we called on reporter *Jim Heer to produce a charicature of die team symbol, The Beaver. • The Beaver (who has no name), with his ischievious and perhaps' evil .grin now adorns our team T-shirts. The shirts will be our uniforms for the game, and will also be' 6••• on safe to the public. Profits from the sale of the shirts will be donated to the Seaforth . ;Community Hospital. • . In addition, MI help raise money for the **pita', employees of the Expositor are ,tiikingap an office collection, Which will be Matched by the paper itself. The employ- ..ees and management of Roth's are - involved hie 'similar campaign. A silver collection will be made at the game on • Sunday which will also be donated to the • be Id :hospital. It was chosen as the, re:lent because we felt that the money sh utilized locally, and will be well spent and appreciated al our fine medical facility. INTERESTING * .,The genie, scheduled for Sunday at 2 • '• j,m at the Optimist Park; has, Created several interesting 'situations. As Patricia Rimmer Pointed .ont in her Kis, Teens & In Betweens column last • week, she is • employed at Roth's and theEipositor. Her dilemma as to which team to play for has, yet to be solved. However, if ,The Beaver does not agree- to her final decision, she may become his nch on Monday. Beware, Patricia. Brian Ruston was he winneref the team naming, contest, which earned him an official Bad News 'Beavers t,7Shiii. however, Mr. Ruston, as it turnsout, 'is an apprentice butcher in Roth's meat depart- ment. The Beaver will make sure *that Brian Weak his Expositor Shirt during the --gentelloVrefier: —7777 '7-7 The only problem is how to, keep him frorn ending up being hung (not hanged) in the grocery•Itores meat locker for treason. Don't worry, Beav will protect You. ' • , With all the attention the game is getting, all the management of the paper can say is "You had better win", in a job -threatening tone of voice. What have we -gotten ourselves iiito? But we're not afraid. We have Super Beaver to protect us; and uphold justice in the world (sounds good, doesn't it?) And besides, we've managed to hold two whole practices, and might even squeeze one in tonight. Blue Jays, watch out, here we come. Sunday's game is just for fun and perhaps to raise a bit of money for the hospital. It should prove to be an enjoyable afternoon for "players" and fans alike. After all, how many softball teams Can boast having a Beaver as toach and a dog named Tuktoyaktuk as catcher?
