McDowell passed away at his home is the second concession of Wallace, in hie 78th year. The deceased was born in West Gwiliimbury, Simeoe county, and came to Wallace in 1849, boating on the homestead which now adjoins the town of Listowel, but which at the time was a part of the "Queen's /hush." Mre. Walker was born near Thirsk, Yorkshire, and was married in York, coming to Huron County with her husband fifty years ago last Angnet; they settled at Grantcn, on the London wad, living there 27 years, then moving to Clinton, where they have resided fo. 23 years. Mrs. Walker was the mother of six children, two of whom are dead. Mr. Robertson, of the Goderioh Sig- nal, has received word of his sister, Mi -s Jessie Robertson, who disappeared some weeks ago from Quebec, where she was in company with one of her brothers.
