She, explained that Pro
Print Theatre most often
uses hand and rod puppets

inch foam similar to that
used in packing crates. The
fount structure, she added, is
then covered with material.
Because of artistic director
Nikki Tiltoe'S„ experience in
mime, Pat „said the troupe
incorporates a lot of mime in
their puppetry.
"Mime and puppetry are
movement -based arts where
action and, movement are
very important," she said.
For those who are inter-
ested in learning more about
puppetry and how to perform
as a puppeteer, Pat said Frog

Some people thought that
it could have been a slight
tornado, others thought that
it may have been a hurri-
cane. These are some par-
ents' ideas of what happened
last Tuesday when it began
to rain and thunder. It was a
really bad storm in the eyes
of parents around town, but
what about the children?
What do they think when
they see the fire going
through the sky and trees
and branches falling down all
over because of the wind?
This week I asked a few kids
what they thought about rain
and thunderstorms and what
they do when'there one.
Brenda Jessome. 6, of
Scaforth said that she likes to

kids think of storms
dering. When I asked her if
she liked a thunderstorm,
she answered, "A little bit
because it gives the flowers a
drink." Brenda said that
thunderstorms scare her but
ifie likes them- anyway.
' Brenda thought that rain
causes thunder and the thun-
der makes all of the racket
outside when you- are trying
to sleep.
SCARED IN BED
Bobbi -Ann Scarrow. 7. of
Seaforth said that she likes
thunderstorms but they scare
her. "I like them a little bit
but sometimes i get scared in
bad because I think it's (the
thunder) a monster. After
the storm we saw a branch
that fell on a house and I said
to my dad I'm glad that it

Bobbi -Ann said that there

THEY MAKE
,THINGS GROW
Ronald Sinnamon, 5, of
Seafoith said that he really
did like thunderstorms.
"They ' make everything
grow. Most of my bachelor
buttons (flowers) have
opened." When I asked Ron-
ald what he did when the
thunderstorm was keeping
him in the house last Tues-
day afternoon, he said "I
hide under the covers all the
time."
Ronald said thunder is
caused by too many stormy
black clouds bunched to-
gether. He said that the
noise was caused by thunder
striking something but he
wasn't too sure what. Last
Tuesday afternoon there was
a lot of commotion around
Ronald's house after the
storrn was over.
"A tree in our backyard
fell down because of the
wind. It was a tree that we
planted in centennial year. A
couple of big branches fell
down at the shoe factory
warehouse. One of our 'sun-
flowers and a tomato plant
got knocked down by the
wind." A birdbath that used
to sit in Ronald's front lawn
was blown over by the wind
and broken into bits and
pieces and the top broke in
two.
SIT STILL ON THE COUCH
Rachel Vecchio, 6, of Lon-
don said that she doesn't like
storms because they're
scary. Rachel said that she
sits on the couch when
there's a storm and she
doesn't move. Rachel said
that If you move you might.

reason that there is such a

thunderstorm is because the

Susan Rowcliffe, 5, of Sea -
forth agreed with Rachel.
She thinks that thunder-
storms are really scary be-
cause of the lightning and
thunder. Susan said that she
sits on her mommy's knee
during a storm so that she
won't get hurt. There was a
lot of excitement caused by
the storm around Susan's
house too last Tuesday. •
"A big branch fell down at
Sills' house. It was hanging
on the hydro wire and half of
it was on the house but their
dad got it down."
Kids do sec the sarne
things as parents do during a
really bad thunderstorm.
Some cry, some laugh while
others are in sure amaze-
ment at the art work of the
lightning as it soars through
the sky.
