Logan native dies in
Mitchell house fire
An autopsy has revealed
that the cause of deqh of a
hffitchell man who died in an
early morning fire Saturday
was asphyxiation from inhal-
ing carbon monoxide gas.
The autopsy on• Francis
Costello, 47, of 162 James
St., Mitchell, was performed
later Saturday by Dr. David
Fitzgerald of Stratford.

less smoking may have been
the cause of the fire which
broke out shortly after 3 a.m.

arriving on the scene.
Another occupant of the
building, a co-owner of the
House, Lee Cassidy, 54, was
rescued frofn the fire by a
fireman and two passers-by.

A conversation but the chat
was constantly being inter- •
rupted by leaps from the
bench, ear piercing screams
:and cheers from fellow play-
ers.

They never seem to, get
tired nor do they lose their,
enthusiasm. Even When one '
of the teams was losing by 10
points they still played their
best and neVer gave up. As
- one- of -the- boys -put it -,---"So
what if we're losing, we're
still the best team."
I was surprised at the
small crowd watching. It was
made up of mostly Moms and
Dads. Even though I didn't
know any of the boys myself I
still found myself laughing at
their ctazy antics and enjoy-
ing,:myself. The boys were
more than friendly and very
entertaining.
The boys playing were all
under the age of 11. Some OF
them were barely as tall as
Smiles
A marble tournament was
in full swing. Little Johnny
missed an easy shot and in a
loud voice uttered a real cuss
word. A preacher who was
among the spectators called
to him, "Johnny, what hap -
to little boys who
swear?"
Replied- Johnny,
"They grow- up to be golf-
ers."
Brenda Finlayson in
lawn bowling finals
Seaforth Lawn Bowlers
have been active this past
month with good turnouts at
local jitneys. The ladies have
been bowling on Monday
afternoons with men bowling
Monday evenings.
In out-of-town tourna-
ments for ladles at Atwood,
Esther Brady and Thelma
Dale placed first in tidies
doubles with Helen Connell
,and Jean Lunn taking third.
At Mitchell mixed pairs
Elmer Townsend and Rachel
Riehl teamed up to take first
place and at Mitchell M & M
lately; Art and Mary Finlay-
son and Eric Matzold placed
3rd. Eric and Mary also took
3rd in the Samsonite tourn-
ament at Stratford with 3W
44i while Lorne and Thelma
Dale placed third at Mitchell
mixed pairs. Bowlers have
been active in other tourn-
aments out of Vowil with
several winning prizes.
In Ladies' Provincial
singles, Brenda Finlayson
advanced to the finals at
Brantford on Tuesday, win-
ning her three games against
Districts I,' 2 and 3. The
winning doubles were Helen
Wake and Joyce Evans of
Stratford. The final games
for all Ontario will be played
in Willow dale on Tuesday.
