couiSe.
ReCently this newspaper issued a chal-
lenge to Roth's to compete in a softball
game scheduled for Sunday, August 17.
The intent of the. match is to provide
employees of both companies with some
good-natured competition (the term is used
loosely), as well as to try to raise a bit of
money for a worthy charity.
But a problem has appeared. The Huron
Expositor- tearn-has-no. name.,_Fer_this
reason, a "Name the Team Contest",
begins today. Readers are asked to submit
names to the contest, with the winner to be
chosen from all entries on Monday, July
28.
The winner will be announced in the July
31 issue of the Expositor, and will receive
an Expositor team T-shirt.
Among the Expositor line-up will be
such notables as "Reggie" Shoveller,
"Pee -Wee" White, "Big Mac" McLean,
"Hot Stuff" Hunt,, "Babe" Hamilton and
of course our goalie, "Sparky" Caldwell.
More details about the game will be
announced as the event draws near.
The contest is open to the public, except
for employees of The Huron Expositor.

at the Expositor office, or can be mailed to:

Teat dipping should be done
after each milking, as well as
twice daily during the first 5
days after drying off and for
the last five days before
freshening. During these
periods, the teat canal is
partially open. leaving the
udder susceptible to invasion
by bacteria. unless teat dip-
ping is carried out.
Dry cow treatment. im-
mediately after the last milk-

the udder by subsequent
niilkings. this has proven to
be the only effective °ppm. -

have been done, a specific
antibiotic should be used.

Cows without a history of
mastitis should not be dry
treated. Not only is this a
waste of an expensive pro-
duct. but the needless use of
antibiotics may be respon-
sible for an increase in the
incidence of conform mastitis
in freshening cows.

about the shortage of skilled

Women represent the fas-
test 'growing grbup in the
labour force, but are gener-
ally concentrated in a few
traditionally female areas .Cif
work. Many of these jobs are
low paying and provide little
opportunity for advance-
ment. "Women tnust be
encouraged to take advant-
age of the training and
opportunities available for
the job openings in the
skilled trades and.. techno-
logy," says Marnie Clarke,
Director- of Ontario's
Women's Bureau. "Statis-
tics show that the average
Canadian woman can expect
to spend at least 25 years of
her life in the paid labour
force, regardless of her mar-
ital status. Those 2.5 years
can be routine, undervalued
and underpaid - or they can
be challenging and reward-
ing. Women are now begin-
ning to enter non-traditional
occupations and exploring a
variety of new options. How-
ever they need support and
encouragement from their
families, the educational sys-
tem •and from industry it-
self," she said.
