After many meetings and
much discussion, the new
Walton Recreation Centre•
will nall be opening on
Saturdyu1y 19.
In August of 1979, people
from Walton and the sur-
rounding municipalities of
Morris, Grey and MCKillop
attended a meeting -in which
they discussed the possibility
of-constructing•some type of -
community centre which
could house a library, wash-
rooms and a food stand for
the ball park.
Morris and Grey Town-
ships contributed $4000 to

The contract for building
the new recreation centre
was awarded to Henry Exel
whose bid of $24,995 was the
lowest tender. •
Now with the help of the
construction company and
volunteer labor from the
Walton community, , the
buildiiag has been completed
at a total cost of about
$30,000. The recreation
committee had S6,500 saveci
from previous fund-raising
everfts and $1500 from a
dance and draw held this
year. They also.
received a community re-
creation centres grant from
the province all of thismoney
will go towards the construc-
tion costs of the building.
The opening of the facility
is being celebrated in style
on. Saturday, July 19 With a
parade, a ball game between
the Walton Intermediates
and the CKNX Try-Hards,
opening ceremonies and
dedication, pork barbecue
and an Old Tyme Family

Ray McClure arrived home
last week from Daysland,
Alberta where he will spend
a month holidaying with his ,
parents, .Mt. and Mrs. Har-
vey McClure and family and
other relatives in the com-
munity.
Mr. and Mrs: Bill Bilo-
krylie of Sratford visited on
Saturday evening with Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Ponomarenko.
The ladies used to be school
chums in Saskatchewan.

program. Shirley Scott open-
ed the program, leading
songs with her guitar. One
class of boys put on a skit.
Rev. Scott introduced the
leaders and presented each
with a thank you diploma. He
complimented and thanked
them for their interest. Every
one was invited to the

Church in Toronto. where
they are sponsoring a family
from Vietnam, which in-
cludes Father aged 24:
mother 21; and a baby boy.
Their church began in Feb.
1979 and raised 59000. They
are giving the family 590 a
week to live on. He is an
electrician and she has 1 year
of nurse's training. They
have adjusted well. Lois was
thanked by Edythe Beacom
and Margaret Whyte presen-
ted her with a gift.

This coming Saturday the
Walton Area Sports Club are
planning for the Grand
Opening of the new Recre-
ation Center Building. This is
not a new community hall.
The old building will be used
for several functions. It is
looked after by the Institute
and the dance will be held at
the community hall bringing
the big event to a close.
The parade will start at
1:00 p.m. with a ball game to
follow between the Walton
