Building down in Logan
Building permit fees were
amended when Logan Town-
er-,
ship Council met in regular
council session, Monday,
July 7.
For work estimated at not
than 51,000, the fee
was aised from SS to 58. For
wov estiraated over $1,000,
the fee was raised from 53 to
54 for each additional 51,000.
Over $100,000, the fee -re-
mains at 53 per thousand. A
fee of 525 is charged for farm
silos and a site plan must be
-submitted.
Building permits for June
totalled 5118,000 which is a
marked decrease in building
In the township compared to
last year.
Council passed four by-
laws, including one to amend
the building permit fees.
Amending by-laws for the
O'Rourke and Dillon Munic-
ipal Drains setting out the
actual assessment of the
landowners affected, were
approved and a rating by-law
was approved in the amount
of 524,300 for tile drainage
loans.
Council approved a grant
of 5400 to the Mitchell Agri-
oal
culture Society. They. also
decided to support the pro-
posal of the Perth County
Clerk Treasurers' Associ-
ation to raise the fee for tax
,cerifficates to 55 in order -to
have a uniform fee across thp
county and compensate for
the time required to prepare
these statements. Approval
was given to increase the
charges for amendments to
the zoning by-law from 550 to
5150 plus any additional
costs.
Road accounts in the
St. Columban
arrionnt of 59,203.12 were
approved. The road super-
intendent reported that the
men have been busy' spray-
ing weeds, grading and re-
pairing' roads: It isi.expected
thata section of Concession 2
from lots 1-15 and Conces-
sion -4, from Lots 15 to 20 will
be surface treated later this

Nolan reunion held
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent
Murray held the Nolan fam-
ily"reunion at their home on

The regular meeting of the
Township Council of Hihbert
was opened on Monday eve-
ning July 7, and after pass-
ing of accounts was closed in
a mark of respect for the
tragie accident which took
the life of Roy Sinclair Johns,
second son "sif Councillor
Donald Johns.
Council re -convened on
Thursday, July 10 and after a
presentation by Mrs. Maur-
een Dearing requesting
financial assistance to com-
mence a Girl Guide and
Brownie Group in the Dublin
area, a grant of 5100.00 was
'made.
-By-laws- were passed for
Tile Drainage Loan S18,400
for a Debenture of 5300,000.1
for future tile drainage loans,
the third reading on, the
o"McGrath Drainage Works
& D Tile", amending
by-laws on the "Tyndall"
& "Geary" Drainage Works,
The Mil Rates for the Town-
ship and The Police Village
of Dublin, amending_ by-law
$16,631 for the closed work
and Hanna and Hamilton
Construction Co. Ltd. of List-
owel for 51,750.00 for the
open work. Reports for the
Waugh -Robinson, the Jar-
muth and the Jorctlin Munic-
ipal Drains were provision-
ally adopted. The next
.meeting Will be July 21.
Perth honors Edighoffer

Perth M.p.P, Hugh Edig-
hoffer was the recipient last
week of a special gift from
Perth County Council to hon-
our his twelve years of
service to the county.
Mr. Edighoffer assured
council the gift, a framed
colour picture of the Perth
County Courthouse. would
be "hung with pride" in his
office in Toronto.
In a short speech following
the presentation. Mr. Edig-
hoffer brought council "up to
date" on the session of
provincial parliament just
ended.
The four main aroas of
• concern in the house, as
reflected in discussions dur-
ing question -period. were
"unemployment. inflation,
energy and the environ-
ment," he said.
One issue of particular
concern locally. as reflected
in the mail he received, waa
the high cost of electricity to
rural residents, fr. Edig-
hoffer said.
The government is going
to "insist on a study" of the
rate structure. he said, and
this may lead to a reduction
in rural hydro rates.
Mr. Edighoffer said the
session just ended .o.waso....l'a

Albert Siemon, R.R. 4,
Walton, died at Seaforth
Community flospital Friday,
July 11, 1980. He was in his
76th year and had been in ill
health for some time.
Born in McKillop Town-
ship, he was the son of the
late William Siemon and the
former Emma Hernrne. He
married the formbr Lucy
Eckert on May 10, 1933. •
He was a plumber, retiring
in 1965.
Mr. Siemer' was a former
member of McKillop Town-
ship Council and served on
the board of the McKillop -
Logan -Hibbert • Telephone
Company Ware that com-
pany was taken over by Bell
Telephone. He was a life
member of Si Peter's Luth-
eran Church in Brodhagen
and was a member of the
church council.
Surviving are his wife, two
sons. Keith and 'William. of
R.R. 4. Walton. three daugh-
ters, Mrs. Maurice' (Jean)
Mastin, of Oshawa, Mrs.
Ronald (Elsie) Beuermann of
R.R. 1. Dublin, and Mrs.
Murray (Beatrice) Dawson of

Church, Brodhaken, were
two baskets from the Bern-
hard Schmitt and Dawne
Wesenberg wedding on 'Sat-
urday, and two baskets from
the funeral of the late Roy
Johns, Staffa, and a yellow
potted chrysanthemum from
the funetal of the late Roger
Pehlke, Monkton.
Mrs. Hilda French is a
patient in the Stratford Gen-
eral Hospital; we wish her a
speedy recovery. Mrs. Luella
Wolfe of the Hillside Rest
Home, R.R. 5, Stratford and
formerly of Brodhagen, visit-
ed in Kingston for 2 weeks
with her daughter and family,
Sergeant Major Dick Watson
and Mrs. Watson, Diane and
Diamond. While there Doug
and Don Watson called her
from St. Thomas. Mr. and
Mrs. Watson and Diamond
accompanied Luella on her
return to Hillside, then went
on to the Watson Reuthon
held in London. and from
there went on holidays out
west.

their son Michael Richard,
born on July 8 at the Strat-
ford General Hospital.
Perth, Stratford meet
at Fryfogei Inn
Perth County Council and
the City of Stratford have
been meeting to discuss the
disposition of the Fryfogel
Ism which the two munici-
palities jointly own. but no
decision -has been made yet.
A project to restore the inn
was seuttled last month when
the city decided to pull out its
financial backing and the
county decided not to go
ahead on its own.
The Perth Historical Board,
which was adrninisterinit
Fryfogel for the city and the
county, has been asked to
present a "statement of out-
standing expenses regarding
Fryfogel Ian. . (and) all
legal documents prior to and
since the inception of the
board," WIUT1Cn Carl Vock
told council last week.
Mr. Vock said council's
executive committee and the
city had a "goo -d discussion"
about the fate of the inn but
would not elaborate ariy fur-
ther
