Close loss to Exeter for Under -17s
•On Monday, June 4, the_ St.
Columban Under -17 squad played
.home to Exeter and fell 2-0 in the
closest gamethat the team has
played this year. These two teams
were very. close, as the play was in
the St. Columban end for most of
lhtgame. Exeter lesL1-0 sithe first
half ona lucky goal, and then
scored an even luckier goal in the
second half to finish the St. Colum -
ban team.

The St. Columban Atom II team
travelled to: Lucan on June 4 and
handily defeated Lucan by a score
of 3-0.
Randy Van Bakel, called up from
the Squirt squad, played an excel-
lent game in the half and forward
positions, and Joey Staples and
Ryan Hoegy provided good defence
for netminders Jared and Jeff Mur-

for the entire game, fending off the
Exeter offence, with ' help from
Kelly Boven in defence. J.D. Nolan
booted in four goals, on assists by
Krissy Groot on one and Larry
Kelly okanother, with two single-
handed goals racked up for the
evening. Jamie Dick scored an
unassisted goal, while Larry Kelly
put two points on the boarder, at),o
listed by Jamie Dicon one goal
and Scott Henderson on the other.

goals for four goals -against in their
first three ,games, and the team is
looking to improve their record.
The members of the Under -17
squad are Mike Seiler, Mike Coyne,

Off to a rocky start in the first
half, the SL Columban PeeWee 11
team settled down in the second
half of their May 29 match against
Grand Bend to bring home a 3-1
twin. Good crisp passing helped out
n tlio':goals>seoted•by Mike Sande,
Zoe Murray and Wayne. Sc600nder-
cierd, with Casey Boven and Jeff
Ryansplaying a strong game in net.
The PeeWee Ws added ten points
to that Grand Bend win margin on
June 4 when they welcomed Lucan
to the St. Columban pitch,
dominating the play throughout the
game and sending Lucan packing
with a 13-1 victory. Mike Smale
was a powerhouse in the game,
racking up a total of no less than
six goals. Wayne Schoonderwoerd
and Casey Boven both scored hat -
tricks, while Mike Moylan added to
the win with one goal.
