Oxford. phQ,to. • , Hello again from Seaforth Manor Retire- ment Home. This month; we have been putting on the finishing touches as we prepare for open house on June 3. We were also very disappointed this month to have our elevator down for a short spell but I am very pleased to be able to say it is working well. I guess elevators, like life, have their ups and downs! We welcome two new residents this month. Ethel Coleman is a long-time resi- dent of Seaforth area, and Mary Mair came to join us from New Hamburg after a good recommendation from her cousin Olive Ball. Thank you a Olive for her kind words. We are also pleaSed to have Arthur Hallam back from hospitarand are happy he has made such a speedy' and complete recovery.„„ Mother's Day was special for all Our ladies. The men presented lady with a rose corsage as they entered the din- ingroom that morning. Moat Of the ladies were pleased, to have families around the rest of the day and some enjoyed the day out. Activities continue to increase with more residents and we have joined several new games to our list. Residents enjoyed pic- tures of Australia with Dorothy Williams and a birthday party with the Eastsiders playing. Thanks to everyone who helped With these activities. We also had our mon- thly welcome tea for our new residents. Please don't forget the Open House' on June 3. Joan Stewart called the meeting to order and members said the 4 -II pledge. The whole group answered the roll call, which was "Who has better eyesight, an animal or a human?" Election of officers is as follows: president- Tracy Malone; vice-president - Debbie Malone; Secretary - Barb Forrest, Treasurer - Kris McNaughton and Press Reporter - David Diegel. The members will decide bn a name, and their leader has asked the members to try and make a cover for their projects. To see how animals senses are, the group put two pieces of cone shaped paper on some members' ears. It increased their hearing. Cones were placed on their noses to increase their. sense of smell. They then made glasses and put saran wrap on them. This blurred eye vision and club members led each other around while people niade sounds. Members talked about Zoonosis and other diseases such as rabies, brucellosis, trichinosis, and salmonella which can be transrdifted to htunan.s. Win, Lose or Draw cards were made and doughnuts and chocolate milk were served. The next meeting will he \held on May 30, 6:30 pm. at Stewareft.
