On Thursday evening, April 26 the
Huron Day Care Centre for the Male -
bound put on a special evening •to
celebrate the tremendous countrilbuii0ns
to the centre's activities.
It was a beautiful summer evening and
as they arrived they were welcomed with
a cooling drink and an Opportunity to
socialize.
The auditorium was decorated, and a
roast beef dinner was served with
delicious celebratory cake as dessert.
Following the introduction of the
volunteers who came from Bayfield,
Blyth, Clinton, Exeter, Goderich and
Seaforth, there was a break in the pro-
ceedings for a group photograph.
Scott,Thker was
ev. Charles
chaplain tguest o the London Psychiatric
Hospital, and a man who has for many
years been associated with the Day
Centre,
Wirking in the. comam►unity, he said, he
knew that volwrteers played a very, im-
portant role, and it was equally impor-
tant that their contributions should be
acknowledged, as was happeiung at this
gathering. He describes 'them as am-
bassadors of God, who by their participa-
tion exemplified the Christian doctrine of
loving caring and sharing.
Quoting fromhis own experience, he
said that the years had taught him many
as
indi
things,
was of the utmost treating
rii people
also stressed the need to be supportive,
observant and a good listener; to treat
others with respect, and thus to earn
theirs.
An indication of the loyalty of Day Cen-
tre volunteers was dearly indicated when
the awards wereresented. The first
group. baying, competed 12 years of ser
vice, Winded Muriel Jones, Ruth
waifs, Ge`rtrade' Postrna and Edwing
Zeale. Phyllis Tyndall had completed 11
years; Jim Allaway, Jean Fleming and
Helene Regier, 10 years; Gordon Fin-
nigan and Donna Klopp, eight years;
Marion Hill, Willa Rathwell, Viola Riley
and Pat Watson, seven years; Bob
Groves, Edna Mustard and Bob Thomp-
son, six years; Dorothy McCluskie, Barb
Moffat and Hilda Veenstra, five years;

years; Pauline Kennedy, Sharon LaCroix,

Hello! Welcome to Queensway News.
We've had a very eventful last two weeks
with our April 26th Birthday Party being
the highlight. Marie Flynn and the Huron
Strings entertained with lots of Old Tyme
Music. We were also treated to some ex-
cellent step dancing from Cheryl Colson,
Sonya Chrastina, Tanis Chisholm, Amy
Jean Love, Erica Brownridge, Jesse Con-
nolly, and Amy Shapton. Residents
thoroughly enjoyed the program and also
appreciated the dedicated parents who
brought their step dancing children to
entertain.
Movies viewed by residents the past two
Thursdays were "Ruth Stouts Garden"
which now has us m the mood to soon
plant Queensway's, and "Fun in
Acapulco".
Monday, April 30th the Hensall
Presbyterian ladies played their last bingo

for the month with residents. Queensway
has really been thankful for their
assistance and prizes in April and look for-
ward to seeing them again in September.
Monday evening, women of the Zurich
Mennonite Church joined residents for a
Ladies Hour. Residents received hand
massages, manicures and a little extra
"'pampering, followed by tea and a special
snack of fruit bread and cheese provided
by the Mennonite women.
Pastor Alles of the Zurich Lutheran
Church led the wors 'p on Tuesday, May
1 with Gertie Fleischaur as pianist.

• The May meeting was held in the home
of Frances Teatero. The meditation which
had been used at the Annual Conference
for Anglican Church Women in London
were followed. Nancy Larone gave a
special reading.
Plans were finalized for our forthcoming
Spaghetti Supper to be held on May 4th at
the Parish Hall. Other new business was
brought to the floor.
Audrey McLean gave a report on the
Annual Conference which was held at St.
Paul's Cathedral in London on Saturday,
April 28. This was attended by Sharon
Millard, Barb Palin, Dorothy Hays and'
Audrey. The guest speaker was Mrs. A. J.
Finlay, International Chairperson of the In-
ternational Committee for World Day of
Prayer. She is alos the World President.
The Right Reverend Derwyn D. Jones,
Bishop of Huron was the celebrant. Our
ladies very much enjoyed the day and
were especially impressed by the guest
speaker, Mrs. Finlay.
The mystery prize winner was Nancy
Larone, and our next meeting will be June
5th at the Parish Hall which will be a Pot
Luck Supper.
Dorothy Hays, our Chairperson, brought
back an article on our Thankoffering".
The following is a summary of this offer-
ing and it's special meaning.
Who contributes: For some women, a
Thankoffering has long been an accepted
part of their church life; for others, it is
a new experience of Christian love and
stewardship. Often it becomes a family
project. You may be a member of a parish
group, or you may not be, but all persons
mindful of the need to give thanks for
God's grace may contribute.
Usually, someone designated by the
women of your parish will then present the
total parish offering at the service of Ho-
ly Communion at the Annual Meeting of
the Anglican Church Women. The money
goes to or will be included in our Total
Budget.
We, in the Diocese of Huron have ac-
cepted our fair share of the Diocesan
Budget. Our share reduces the amount of
the apportionment to Parishes in the
Diocese and is channeled into the

All horse lovers will sympathize with
Rev. R.W. Craw of McKillop, who last
week suffered the loss of his ten months
old standardbred filly. The colt seemed to
be in excellent spirits and health at noon,
when it cleaned up its feed as usual, but
during the afternoon it was taken ill and
lockjaw developed almost immediately,
from which it died a few hours later. The
filly was ohe of the finest colts ever bred
in this district, and Mr. Craw had not on-
ly had her registered but had entered her
in the futurity,
risk plc
mainstream of the church life in Canada
and the world.
The `Thankoffering" is a very special
and personal way in which you can say
"thank you" for God's love and understan-
ding towards you, in ways both large and
small.
In other news in our Parish, a joint
Board meeting was held between St. Paul's
of Clinton and St. Thomas' of Seaforth. We
had an excellent turnout and productive
meeting.

of Helen Southgate, craft sessions are to

day centre, expressing herappreciation,
said that meeting all the volunteers was
like coming hoarse, the get together of a
large family. Her work, she added, in-
volved travelling around the county and
talking to other people. She was very
proud of the volunteers, especially when
she told of what they did and how many

Lois Fitzgerald, assistant director,
