transporting me to London by ambulance, and

everyone that sent flowers, cards, treats, and
numerous phone calls of concern, and help In
any way, while a patient in Seaforth and
University Hospitals. To Drs. Rodney, ,Under-
wood, Malkus, Passi and Schneelburgbr and
the nurses at both' hospitals for their loving
care and kindness, also special thanks to
Pastor Bob Book and John Obeda for ad-
ministering Holy Communion and their visits,
and to all who visited me in hospital, and after
returning home. It was all greatly appreciated.

ral Centre will .4wto its third, annual
campaign to Warn motorists of ,the
hazards of d ialfia$ and".driiring.
Last year's program was tine "e
kit" and It was`made available-throug
the liquor-- stores. This season the
message is, Thank You For- Being A
Sober Driver.
"The summer months are 'the most
serioud (for drinking and driving)," com-
mented the centre's program director,
Meryl Thomas. "Everyone tends to Bink
it's Christmas, but it's not. It's July and

accidents and fatalities."
The program runs in conjunction with
the police RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driv-
ing Everyone) spot checks. This summer,
when drivers are stopped by RIDE and
they are not under the influence of
alcohol, the police will give them a'

folder. The folder is used to hold the
driver's vehicle ownership and insurance.
If, however, the driver -blows a "warn"
in the roadside breath test, they will
receive a 12 -hour license suspension.
When they retrieve their license from the
police station, after the 12 -hour period,
the drivers will receive information on
the social and financial costs of drinking
and driving-

She added that there are still a number

she said. And she warned that teenage

the same amount of alcohol.
All the municipal police forces in
Huron County will receive the folders and
the information, as will the Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) branches.
The Thank You For Being A Sober
Driver program received funding through
the Ministry of the Attorney General's
Community Grants Program. On April 20,
Huron MPP Jack Riddell, on behalf of
Attorney General Ian Scott, presented an
$8,000 cheque to Mrs. Thomas at the cen-
tre in Clinton.
"The Ontario government recognizes
and supports the efforts of the groups
like the Clinton based one to keep our
roadways free of impaired drivers," Mr.
Riddell was quoted as saying in a press
release.
The Huron Addiction Assessment and
Referral Centre is a branch of the Huron
County Health Unit. The drinking and
driving countermeasures program will
run until November.
HURON MPP Jack Riddell was in Clinton on
April 20 to present an $8,000 cheque to the
Huron Addiction Assessment and Referral
Centre. The money will fund the centre's

The annual meeting of the Cranbrook
Womens' Institute was held on April 3 at
the home of Mrs. John Vanass. Mrs. Jim
Hart acted as chairman and Mrs. Frank
Workman was secretary for the meeting.

It was decided that $25 will be donated
to the local Cancer Society. It was also
learned that Sister Linda Morton is in the
hospital.
Sister Isabelle Craig and Brother Bill
Craig served lunch, and the 50-50 draw
was won by Brother Mac McIntosh. The
meeting closed in harmony.
The monthly meeting of the W.M.S. of
Knox Presbyterian Church was held on
April 11 at the home of Mrs. Jack Knight
with eight members present. Mrs. Stew
Steiss opened the meeting with an Easter
reading after which the hymn "When 1
Survey the Wondrous Cross" was sung.
Mrs. Steiss read an interesting account of
the lives of the 12 disciples. Prayer follow-
ed and "Hallelujah, Halleluj ," was sung
with Mrs. Steiss at the piano.
Mrs. W. Strickler conducted the business
in the absence of the President. Mrs. Mur-
ray Crawfordread the minutes and Mrs.

At 4:04 a.m. in the early morning of Fri-
day, January 26, 1990 Sgt. Hilgendorf of
the Goderich Police department was on
patrol when he noticed a building on fire
at 26 Newgate Street, Goderich.
The Goderich Fire Department attended
and fought the blaze until around 9 that
morning, keeping the damage to a
minimum. The fin toll was $500,000 in
damage to the V.I.D. Kids Arcade. Viceroy
Homes Office and The Speedwash Laun-
dromat. This was a fire that could have
been much more serious with death
resulting.
The Ontario Fire Marshall's office
assisted the Goderich Town Police and
they determined that this is , a case of
arson.

29, 1990 a thief broke into a van owned by
JDJS Mechanical of Exeter and stole the
following tools: Ridgid 400 power threading
tool, silver in color, the vice portion has a
crack in it; 3/8” Makita power drill, JDJS
& GIGS marked on sides; Makita cordless
drill with Fog marked on the side;
Milwaukee sawzall; JDJS & Gigs marked
on the side; 2 - 18" pipe wrenches (make
ridgid); A selection of drop head dies.
Small torch set mounted in a red plastic
case; A variety of hand tools such as
snips, pliers, hammers, screwdrivers all in
a shop made galvanized tote box.
