Unfortunately, a considerable number of wild mammals will suffer pain, hardship and even death. This will occur as some wild creatures will make a "nuisance" of themselves by tak- ing up residence in human dwellings. Peo- ple, imoften ignorant of and frightened by the anals, will take extreme measures to "correct" the inconvenience caused by the wildlife. Animals often suffer as a result of cruel -and needless action taken by homeowners to rid their homes of nuisance wild creatures. However, untimely or in- correct exclusion of wildlife can also cause headaches for homeowners if wildlife are trapped in the building. To ensure that wildlife cannot become a nuisance, homeowners should "wildlife pro- of" their dwellings. Wildlife proofing a home can take on various forms depending on the animal trying to be excluded. Some of the potential home sites for wildlife in- clude: uncapped chimneys, roofs in poor repair, unprotected garbage, open areas beneath decks and homes as well as open vents. Generally, the fall is a good time to make building repairs prohibiting wildlife from gaining access to a home. The fall is a good time because often wildlife that has entered your home in the spring to have its young, will leave willingly in the fall. be wildproofed` Numerous 1404 ,„0" wildlife share the rural, semi urban and urban, envaromnenta rn wiiielh we live. While same people ap- preciate the beauty and importance of these creatures, many others despise or regard these animals as "nuiaance wildlife". This unwarranted, negative at- titude is unfortunate for several reasons. One reason is that people are responsible for destroying wildlife habitat and forcing wild creatures to take refuge in made - made structures. - _ -- -- Wildlife plays an important role in ur- ban, suburban and rural. settings. You have made it happen! Thank you. Nico Peters Huron County Campaign Chairman Wo der. 111 riot so WO 1 • First, a group of learned scientists deci ed to improve the health and welfare mankind. Behind closed doors they place their small dishes and eye -droppers on the table. Into each dish they dropped'one; or more liquid chemical compounds until they were satisfied. Then they mixed them all together and they had a Wonder Pill! Then it had to be tested. They ad- ministered the pill to a group of small, helpless, terrified animals who had been injected with a cancer cell. These died. As they improved upon the dosage, they found that some of the animals had fewer hours of pain and discomfort, but of course they still had the cancer. They decided it was time for human consumption. The Doctor told the mother -to -be to take x number of mgs, three times daily to be assured of a happy, healthy baby. The result - a two day old infant needed a heart transplant - a one week old needed a • dney transplant (or two). Other babies were being born already with cancer, others with no arms, legs, retarded - need we go on? "to err is human, to forgive, divine". But Yahweh (our Maker) said: "1 will repay..," Meanwhile, thousands of kind, caring people have donated their time, money and effort to raise millions of dollars through public telethons, etc., for research. Along the way they forgot the word PREVEN- TION. How long is it since they started research on a cancer cure? 40-50 years? Billions of dollars spent? Yet, they are confident that a cure is near at hand. But they forgot to read what Yahweh said: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate," (1 Cor. 1:19). The scientists were further encouraged to add to man's well-being. They took a hand- ful of our Creator's perfect grain (He never makes a mistake) which He has pro- vided for our perfect health. (See Yahweh's instructions to Ezekiel - Ezek. 4:9). First, man strips off the outer coating which he lays aside. Then he takes the rest and crushes it, puffs it, flattens it, etc. He then adds a few synthetic vitamins and places it in a cardboard box with the li 11 derf 11 1 d- words: one ounce of this with four ounces of of milk make a good source of dietary pro- d Lein." (He forgot to mention that the pro- tein comes from the milk.) Then he takes two' 'the bra,3rrwtudr he 47tltriplled-off't3rvoriginal" grain, adds a few more additives and places that in another cardboard box and writes on that one "fibre". The first thing we place on our table is a dish with our wonder pills which we take to sustain us for the day. Then it's on to the polluted fast ex- pressways which take us to our high-rise office buildings. We enter our smoke-filled, windowless, sealed tight offices. No need for lively discussions or debates. We just press a few buttons and the computer has all the answers. Day over, we stop at the fast-food chain for dinner. No need to worry if our salad will be green and crisp - it will be well sprayed with one of man's chemicals. We pick up our hamburger which has been kept nice and warm on the steam table, and it takes no time at all to drop our fries into the hot buialing oil always ready and waiting to complete the fast meal which we demand. Or maybe we'll go home and relax in our easy chair and watch our favourite violent crime pro- gram, while enjoying our T.V. dinner. As a man continues to try to invade our Creator's home (heaven) - "... earth He has given to man" (Psa. 115-16) - He is not unmindful. We shall see many more great disasters, as Yahweh pours out His wrath on mankind. But to those who love and obey His commands, He has promised: "A thousand may fall at your side, ten thou- sand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. If Yahweh is for us, who can be against us?" (Rom. 8:31). As the poet said: "Poems are made by fools like me, but only (Yahweh) can make a tree." And so, until we obey His commands, we shall continue to live in this violent, disease -ridden world, Shalom, G.E Barrett, 85 yrs. 229 Dublin St. N. I know what I'd like to be remembered for, or as... People go on about abortions and I am 110 percent pro-life but I have seen adults erase children in classrooms, wives erase husbands by underhandedly erasing their self-esteem. Apparently people in the apparently poverty stricken countries talk about us here in the United States and Canada. They say that we are so poor .that we have to kill our babies. We, like many parents were faced with a new little unplanned for baby and grand - rs-old, party planned theme of the Celebrations will be the 1800's.
