Now Mr. Trudeau talks against Meech

racist category as Trudeau's constitution.
If Quebec isn't part the so-called con-
stitution - why did we'have Quebec par-
ticipate in the 1988 Federal Election and
their MPs now sit in Parliament?
Why do we have a Prime Minister, with
only 43 per cent of the vote, from Quebec?
Pesticide course has its good points, and its bad points
To the Editor:
Farm Pesticide Course — the .4 factor
The article on Pesticides and finger poin-
ting by Maureen Agar in the Rural Voice
was well said. We recently attended the
course, both the wife and I, at a cost of
one day and $70. John Hazlitt should have
pointed out to farmers to remember the .4
factor because this is . where many go
wrong and over apply chemicals. Label
states 5 kg per hectare which translates to
2 lb per acre. The math question is

Thank you, Margaret Hay
Dear Editor:

Seaforth for a quality apartment where the
landlord will accept me for the responsible
adult that 1 am. Having been highly suc-
cessful and respected
in my profession for
29 years and having been what my city
landlord deemed "the ideal tenant" attests
to my sense of responsibility, I think.
Perhaps landlords should consider using
an interview - screening process for
tenants before making any stipulations.
Seaforth needs to retains and attract new
citizens. "No Pets" is just one deterrent
and perhaps a small one. However our
town needs no deterrents to keeping and
attracting residents. After all, do we not
pride ourselves on being "The Friendly
Town"?
Sincerely,
Prospective Tenant.

Seaforth Council, at a special meeting
Monday night, named Mrs. Betty Cardno
to fill the vacancy which resulted following
the death of her husband, Reeve Nelson
Cardno, three weeks ago.
Largely attended funeral services were
held for five-year-old Michael Jansen, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Jansen, who was kill-
ed Friday morning when he was in colli-
sion with a car on No. 8 Highway, two
miles west of Seaforth, in front of his
parents' farm.
A four-year-old cow brought the highest
price of the day when purchased for $960
by Andy MacLean of Cromarty in the
dispersal sale of the Stafscott Holstein herd
of James M. Scott, Staffa.

presented in metric using metres and hec-
tares so it is easier to use the metric ques-
tion and answer in metric but you still
have to multiply by .4 for acres. Our tax
bill comes in acres, the chemical com-
panies apply and bill us by the acre for
work done. It would be far safer if labels
would give us rates in litres/acre.
As for my wife taking the course so she
can go to town for chemicals, this course
still doesn't qualify her as a transporter of
dangerous goods. If the farmer requires
more than 500 kg she will have to make
two trips to town increasing the chance of
a spill. This is okay because I don't want
to put those placards on all four sides of
my new $25,000 pickup anyway. When You
are stopped by the MTC your pesticide
certificate won't interest him, you will still
pay the fine.
But don't get me wrong, the course has
some good points and creates employment
for some during the winter months. Like
Maureen said, ff everyone took the course
and not just the rural minority what a
wonderful world it would be.
P.S. By the way, when I can no longer
afford the farm, I'm sure the real estate
agent will list it in acres.

business and money to Quebec?
How ia it possible for Quebec to use the `
"not withstanding" clause la our so-called
constitution, to by-pass bilingualism in
Quebec? they aren't in Canada's governing
process.
How is it we have French TV from
France as well as from Canada? There is
no British, German. Italian etc. but we are
loaded with French.
No one can say Quebec isn't thriving
within the boundaries of Canada and exer-
cising considerable power on all of Canada.
The Meech Lake Accord is all for
Quebec and the other Provinces must toe
the line and bow down and compromise
but Quebec holds steadfast. This is some
confederation.
Don't blame Quebecers for this mess as
they have no more democratic control of
their government than we do. Blame our
spineless politicians who ignore the majora.
ty. You better believe there is ample
evidence pointing to a French takeover of
Canada. There is one solution - let the
other nine provinces secede from Con-
federation and re -confederate in a much
more democratic framework. Yours truly,

dependence Party of Manitoba 409-35 Reay

The cost for installing the lift, plus com-
pleting the proposed changes to the
church's washroom facilities, Is estimated
at $101,200. With the government grant
however, officials expect the church's
share of that cost to be approximately
$61,000. That portion of the cost will be
paid for through use of monies left to the
church by six separate estates.
Church officials say they would like to
see the project completed by early fall.
