CAN YOU
PUT A NAME
TO THESE FACES?'
This photograph, which ran in the
Stratford Beacon -Herald on July 19,
1939, was recently found by Miss
Rita Duncan and given to Frank
Sills. Can you put a name to any of
these faces? Many of the names are
listed, but a number of these boys
are still unidentified. If you can pick
any of them out, Frank Sills would
be happy to hear from you.
The Seaforth Scout Troop along with a few of thecubs are
encamped at the present time along Lake Huron just north of
Bayfield and they are having a swell time. They are in charge
of Frank Sills as Scoutmaster, A. Wigg as Troop Leader and
F. Stewart as Cub Leader. Others in the group are B. Brug-
New look for
OPP vehicles
The Ontario Provincial Police will be
unveiling the new, bold look of its cruisers.
Most noticeable to the motoring public
will be a change from the familiar two-
tone black and white police cruisers to an
all -white vehicle with highly visible, reflec-
tive blue and gold decal stripes down both
sides.
"The new look to our cruisers reflects
the new look of the OPP in the 1990s,"
said OPP Commissioner Thomas O'Grady.
"It's quite a change from the black and
white design introduced in 1991."
The use of decals on the all -white
vehicles, prompted by manufacturers'
plans to phase out production of two-tone
vehicles, will result in a $100,000 a year
saving which is the estimated cost of pain-
ting the 1,200 vehicle fleet in the traditional
black and white pattern.
The new -look vehicles will be complete-
ly phased in across Ontario by 1993. In ad-
dition to the gold and blue stripe, the
vehicles will also have the OPP crest on
the doors and the district "1-800" number
on the rear panel as well as the word
police on the front fender and rear.
"Stu 1 fes have shown that white reflects
more light 'than'any other color. Combine
that with the reflective decal markings and
we have a police service vehicle which we
believe will be even more visible than the
old fashioned black and white cruiser,"
said Commissioner O'Grady.
