R. 2, Brussels, presiding. The meeting opened with devotions led by the Goderich after- noon auxiliary. Mrs. Gordon Alexander, R. R. 4, Listowel, was moderator for the secretaries' reports and Jean Isbister, Stratford, gave the treasurer's report. The Area Educational Consultant, Evelyn Murdoch of Hamilton, discussed the areas of the Task Force on Restructuring that affect the W.M.S. and presided for the in- stallation of the 1990 officers. The4Harrington auxiliary was in charge of the devotions in the afternoon. An 'In 'Memoriam' service was conducted by the Seaforth auxiliary. Mr. Earl Clark, Strat- ford, favoured with an organ solo which was much enjoyed by all present. The guest speaker, Rev. James Dickey, minister of St. Andrew's and a former editor of the Presbyterian Record, spoke on the theme, "Set Us Mire" paying tribute to the work of the W.M.S. members through the years. However, the decline in membership in the past two decades at- tests to the fact that the W.M.S. is not ap- pealing to the women of the Church as it once did. With the ordination of women as ministers and elders, the W.M.S. is no longer the only avenue open to women to serve the Church. Many women today must work outside the home for financial reasons due to present economic condi- tions. Also, the role of the missionary has changed. In countries where our mis- sionaries have served in the past, the chur- ches now provide their own ministers and leaders. Now, the need is for technicians. He challenged the W.M.S. to change to meet the needs of a changing society or face extinction. The Avonton C.O.C. won the Macerspey Award and the Atwood Explorers won the Gowlett Award. The Spring executive meeting will be held on April 10, 1990, at Seaforth Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. C. Edward, Goderich, gave the courtesy remarks and the meeting closed by singing the hymn, Bless Be The Tie That Binds, and repeating the Lord's prayer. CLASSIFIEDS are foreverone!
