Curlers relunctant
to hang up brooms
Spring calendar, has , butstillsprungaccording
locls have their curling
• snuggies on. Bill Roberton, however, has
been seen with his golf magazine under his
arm, so that's a sure sign it's time to hang
up the broom and clean up the clubs.
Steve Dolmage, son of Neil and Loretta,
travelled to Kamloops, British Columbia
this past weekend to curl in the finals for
the college curling championships. Ile and
his teammates from Fanshawe College
won the Ontario College Athletic Associa-
tion Provincial play finals on March 11.
Despite the absence of curlers due to the
lure of sun and sand, the ladies completed
their last draw of the season. Joan Beuer•
man, with the help of Nancy Dearing, Lin-
da Gingerich and "not so much help" Jean
Ross, wonthat draw.
The Slo Pitch 'spiel was held on Satur-
day with four sheets filled for two draws.
The "Winthrop Warriors", Tom Garrett,
Gordon ,Pryce, Ed Salvrda and Dave
Leolihardt, won the men's event. The
"Bosley Bruisers" Debbie Campbell, Ann
Bosman, Jane Hoggart and Theresa
Finlayson were the ladies champs. A few
aching muscles and sore bones were notic-
ed on Sunday.
The "Spring Fling", the final event of
the curling club, will be held on Saturday,
March 31. There will be a garage and
bake sale in the morning, curling in the
afternoon, and a steak dinner and madcap
entertainment by local entertainers in the
evening. Talent scouts, take note!
