CRIME OF THE WEEK
Theft of cigarettes
On February 8, 1990 from the Royal
Canadian Legion, on Victoria.' Street in
Wutgham. M unknown perpetrator cut the
screen and pried open a window on the
West "(rearZ of the building. The on!y thing
missing seemed to be some:ioose cigaret-
tes, however a backpack containing- liquor
and cigarettes was -found inside the
building and it would appear ibe criminal
had put them there but left them behind
when he was scared off when a police
cruiser came into the area on regular
patrol.
Theft of $5500 worth of tools:
Sometime between 2000Hrs on February
2/90 and 08:30Hrs on February 3/90, an
unknown thief pried the lock -off a tool
shed on the West Side of the newly built
old age home on the corner of Balvina
Street and Suncoast Drive. Once.inslde the

Crime Stoppers and the Goderich Police
Force are seeking your assistance to help
solve this theft.
At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17,
1988 the employees at Cashway Lumber in
Goderich locked up the store for the
weekend. It is presumed that a thief hid
inside the store somewhere and waited un-
til dark to make his move. The thief open-
ed the side door and removed the follow-
ine items:
1) 2 Makita Mitre Saws one serial No. is
2880E
2) a Makita Cordless Drill Kit III
3) a Makita Cordless Drill
4) a Makita Cordless Jig -saw
ELLIGSEN - Terry and Marianne,
Brodhagen, are thrilled to announce the
birth of their daughter, Monica Kathleen,
born on Friday March 16, 1990, and
weighing 8 lbs., 15 ozs. Grant and Darren
are very happy brothers. Proud grand-
parents are Tom and Bea Kale of Seaforth
and Ken and Peg Elligsen of Mitchell.
LUBBERS - Jack and Nancy are pleased
to announce the arrival of their son,
Nicholas John, on March 4, 1990 at the
Seaforth Community Hospital. A little
brother for Jennifer and Katie. Proud

WEDDINGS
AHRENS-SIEMON
Gayle Marie Siemon, daughter of Roy
and Shirley Siemon of Brodhagen, and
Hugh Frederick Ahrens, son of Alvin
Ahrens of Stratford and Evelyn Ahrens of
Mitchell, were united in marriage on
Saturday, February 17, 1990 at Brodhagen's
St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Vickie
Hillebrecht, friend of the bride, was the
maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Shiela
Peluso, sister of the bride, and Marilyn
Buck, friend of the bride. Junior
bridesmaid was Emily Peluso, niece of the
bride. Barry Siemon, brother of, the bride
was best man. Guests were ushered by Bill
Olsthoorn and Doug Rock, friends of the
groom. Junior usher was Matthew Peluso,
nephew of the bride. The couple honey-
mooned in California and Arizona, and
now reside at RR1 Dublin.
ITUARIES
ELIZABETH JORDAN
Sister M. Alma (Elizabeth Jordan), the
10th and last surviving member of the
Peter and Teresa Jordan family all born
on the third concession of Hibbert
Township, died at Ignatia Hall, St. Joseph
Sister's Motherhouse in London on Friday,
March 23, 1990. She was 95 years of age,
and in her 72nd year of religious life in the
St. Joseph's Order.
Sister M. Alma taught and was a prin-
cipal in separate schools, and served over
50 years throughout Southwestern Ontario
- from Goderich to Windsor.
She is survived by 23 nieces and
nephews, and was predeceased by siblings,
William, Eleanor, Michael, Mary (Dewan),
Anne (Fitzpatrick), Margaret (McCor-
mick), Frank, Father John C. Jordan, and
Teresa (Sister St. Teresa).
The funeral mass was held in the, chapel
at Mount St. Joseph, on Sunday, March 25.
Funeral arrangements were made by
Donohue Funeral Home. Interment Sister's
Section of St. Peter's Cemetery, London.
GILBERT SMITH
Gilbert Archibald Smith of 104 Main St.
North, Seaforth, died at the Seaforth Com-
munity Hospital on Saturday, March 24,
1990. He was 84.
He was the son of the late James Smith
and the former Mary Menzies. Before his
retirement to Seaforth, he had farmed in
McKillop Township.
The husband of the former Grace Somer-
ville, Mr. Smith is survived by two
daughters, Lorraine (Mrs. William
Stephenson) of Toronto and Eileen (Mrs.
Gordon Ross) of Exeter. Also surviving are
six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren
Mr. Smith was predeceased by three
sisters, Leila Forbes, Luella Coutts and
Irene Hogg, and a brother Clifford.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth, on Monday
and Tuesday, March 25 and 26. Funeral
services were held on Tuesday afternoon,
Reverend Cheryl -Ann Stedelbauer-Sampa
officiating. Pallbearers were Ken Forbes,
Gord Pryce, Gary McNichol, Ron Driscoll,
Ken Campbell and Tom Somerville. Soloist
for the ceremony was Eric Ross, and
flowerbearers were Kevin Ross, David
Stephenson, Michelle Ross and Cathy But-
son. Spring interment Maitlandbank
Cemetery.
ROBERT McCLURE
Robert McClure, formerly of McKillop
Township, died at the Seaforth Communi-
ty Hospital on Friday, March 23, 1990. He
was 94.
The son of the late John McClure and
the former Agnes Smith, Mr. McClure had
farmed in McKillop Township before his
retirement to Seaforth.
Mr. McClure was the husband of the
former Verna Knox and is survived by son
Ross of McKillop Township and a
daughter, Mrs. Lillian Bernard, of Clinton
along with nine grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a
sister, Mrs. Gertrude Taylor, of Seaforth.
He was predeceased by one daughter,
Ruth Dale; two brothers, Roger and Jim;
and five sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Broadfoot,
Mrs. Mabel Adams, Miss Myrtle McClure,
Miss Ethel McClure and Mrs. Elizabeth
Simpson.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth, until 2 p.m.
Monday afternoon, March 26 when funeral
services were held, Reverend Cheryl -Ann
Stedelbauer-Sampa officiating. Pallbearers
for the service were Les Bernard, Harvey
Bernard, David Bernard, Doug Dale, Neil
Dale and Don Landsborough. Spring inter-
ment Maitlandbank cemetery.
