Atoms tied with New Homburg in ami -finial
The Atom semi-finals continued last
Tuesday night in Seaforth. Going into the
game the series was tied with New Ham-
burg and Seaforth each having won one
game.
New Hamburg started the scoring with
just under one minute left to play in the
first period. They made it a two goal lead
early in, the second period. At the halfway
point of the period, Seaforth had a power
play opportunity. Pat Gridzak got the puck
to Chivy Marion who passed the puck from
the face off circle to Brandon Nash on the
Left side of the net and he slid it home.
Just when the fans thought the team was
beginning to roll, New Hamburg popped in
goal nuri►ber three. The score at the end of
the secdnd period was New Hamburg 3
and Seaforth 1.
Seaforth took advantage of the extra
man when New Hamburg was called on an
interference penalty. Pat Gridzak was
' moved to !left wing from defence for this
power play. He picked up Chris Marion's
rebound and popped it into the New Ham-
burg net. Seaforth finally tied the score at
3 to 3 when Mark Van Dooren passed the
puck up to Shawn Anstett who carried it
the length of the ice and picked off the left
corner.
Three minutes later New Hamburg took
the lead again. ! i.en Seaforth pulled the
goalie in the last minute of play, New
Hamburg dumped the puck into the emp-
ty net to give them a 5 - 3 win. This win
gave them a two games to one lead in the
series.
oth teams were skating hard and
checking hard as shots on goal were
limited to New Hamburg 16 and Seaforth
14.
The fourth game of the series • was
played in New Hamburg Sunday night.
After a 45 minute game delay, the boys
were anxious to get started. Theirst two
periods were scoreless with New Hamburg
out -shooting Seaforth 14 to 7. Scott Wood

IN A DEADLOCK - The Seaforth Atoms and the New Hamburg Atoms each had
two wins in OMHA semi-final hockey action, going into last night's deciding game.
Game results were unfortunately unavailable at press time. However, in this game,
played last week, the Seaforth team put forward a gallant effort, but lost 5-3.

The third period was much more even
with only one shot on goal difference.
However, the New Hamburg team scored
early in the period when a player came
from behind the net and stuffed it in the
corner. Seaforth kept the pressure on and
had many good chances, especially on the
power plays. The end of the game, and
hence the end of the series and the end of
the year, was Looming in front of the team.
Seaforth was finally!, •able; to+,get 'on the
scoreboard with only 3:22 left in the 'game.
Pat Gridzak pick ,; up Shawn Anstett's re-
bound and flipped it home. This 1 - 1 score
forced the game into a ten minute over-
time period.
Seaforth was able to score and take the
lead for the first time in the game halfway
through the overtime. Chris Marion took a
shot and the goalie let a rebound out just
in front of him. There was no New Ham-
burg player ready to clear the puck and
Shawn Anstett '.: ew he didn't . ve much
time so he i' , ked the puck at arm's length
and it slid past the goalie.

the puck in from the red line and took a
