Atoms advance to semi-finals in OMHA action
The Seaforth - Exeter Atom Quarter
Finals went into its third game on Tuesday
night. The teams were tied at this point
with one win each. Exeter came to town
for a 7:30 p.m. start.
Seaforth started the scoring with a
power play goal by Chris Marion assisted
by Mark Van Dooren and Jason Smith.
Exeter came back a few minutes later to
tie the score at 1-1. With only 31 seconds
left in the period, Chris Marion passed the
puck over to Brandon Nash who shot at a
sharp angle and put it in the far side to
give Seaforth a 2-1 lead. Exeter scored the
only goal of the second period to once
again tie the score - this time at two
apiece.
The third period belonged solely to
Seaforth as its sharp -shooters hit the mark
for three unanswered goals. Jered Munro
passed the puck up to Chris Marion who
was knocked off balance at the red line,
recovered and rushed the rest of the way
to the Exeter net. Although he was at a
very sharp angle, he took a quick look and
fired it home. Then it was Shaun Anstett's
turn to show his finesse. He scored
unassisted as he sped down the ice and
picked off the top corner. The last goal of
the game was a beautiful display of team -

sleepy play in the first period, but this
time they pelted 18 shots toward the Ex-

threw themselves in front of everything,
thwarting Seaforth's attempts at an early
lead. Exeter scored the lone goal of the
first period on a scramble play that left an
Exeter sharpshooter alone in front of the
net.
In the second period, Exeter maintained
their tenacious checking role and manag-
ed a second goal on a break caused by a
slow line change.
Four minutes later the dam burst as
Seaforth took advantage of the power play.
Mark Van Dooren was the sniper on a nice

helped by again meeting a hot team, but
they had some hot scores themselves. Mur-

the way with 328/877. Carol Bennewies was
hot with 237/665, Dave Moody had 231/630

Teiehert got a 247 and Deb Bedard a 226

the night, but still managed one point on
the strength of Gerry Armstrong's 256/666
and Doug Vock's 288/649. Joanne Knights
recorded a 191 and Janice Leonhardt
finished with a 190 to complete one of her
less memorable nights.

(five weeks to go) the Wildcats are first
with 14 points. Beatlejuice has 12, Highway
401, 11; Bears 10; Ballbangers 9; and the
