Ice" will be on March 10 at 7:30 P.M. at
the Hensall Arena. Please plan to attend.
UNITED CHURCH NEWS
The Sacrament of Communion was
celebrated at the Hensall United Church on
this first Sunday in Lent.
During the "Children's Time" Rev.
Wright told the children about a new
church season which we call Lent. He also
told them about the special Easter offering
for the World Development and Relief
Fund which is used to help people around
the world. A special booklet describing the
work done by this fund was handed out to
the children. Gerry Corbett read the Old
Testament Lesson on behalf of the Sunday
School.
Rev. Wright's sermon was entitled
"Original Sin - Salvific Hope". It was
pointed out that to be human was to be
corrupted by sin but that only God could
deliver us from this sin. The choir sang a
very beautiful anthem entitled "A Lenten

The opening study session based on the
subject "Multiculturalism" was presented
by Ada Pethick and Janet Dearing on
February 14, when Hibbert United Church
Women met for their monthly meeting.
The worship service was highlighted by an
impressive film strip, entitled "Many
Peoples One Hope".
Plans are being made for a special
Easter Event at Hibbert United Cliurch,
April 17 at 8 pm, and the annual
strawberry supper on June 15.
The group decided to continue support
for Seeds for Africa, used stamps and
Campbells soup labels are being collected.
Scripture calendars are due by the end
of February The Hibbert youth group is
planning a "Work Day" when help will be
available.
A delicious Valentine lunch was provid-
ed and served by Ruby Iney and Dorothy
Daw.

HENSALL EXPLORERS

During the month of February the Ex-
plorers started a new lesson packet called
"FOOD IN A HUNGRY WORLD".
The Explorers also had a Valentine's piz-
za party. They played games and did lots
of other neat stuff.
The girls also started writing to their
pen pals. Each girl has a penpal who is an
Explorer in Stratford.
The Explorer girls started making
Easter Medallions to send to someone in
Africa.
SHUFFLEBOARD RESULTS
Highest score for Hensall shuffleboard on
February 27 was: Dave Kyle who scored
378.
Pearl McKnight scored 343; Dave Wood-
ward, 343; John Pepper, 339; and Hugh
McKay 337.
The next Shuffleboard game will be Mon-
day, March 12.
CARD PARTY
Seven tables played euchre at Hensall
Three Links Seniors card party. The win-
ners were: ladies; Nora Corriveau, Anne
Finkbeiner; men; Jack Madge, George
Dawson. Lone hands; Elsie Carlisle, Hugh
McKay. The draw winners were: Margaret
Cole, Evelyn Flynn, Ina Neeb, Margaret
Mole.

HENSALL NOVICE
On February 28 the Exeter Waxers came
to Hensall and won 7 to 4 in an exhibition
game.
Hensall Goals were scored by Paul
Cooper, Jeff Campbell, 2, and Jimmy
Seaton.
Assists were by Jacob Bruxer and Jeff
Campbell. It was a well played game in
goal by Jeremy Willer.

26 Hensall defeated Bayfield 9-3.

Regan Neilands, and Mark Bell. Assists
were by Regan Neilands, Mark Bell and
Graham Keys.
In the Hensall vs Goderich 1 game b
Goderich Sunday, March 4, Hensall shut
out Goderich 3-0. Goals were scored by
Brock Weiss, Greg Keys and Mark Bell.
Stephen Oud got an assist.

PROVINCIAL FINALISTS - Six high school students 4including two alternates) were
chosen to represent the Snowbelt Region Ontario Student Debating Union at the
provincial finals to be held later this month. They had to .first prove themselves
at a regional debate held in Clinton. That debate was on bilingualism. Qualifying

CARMEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
There's no need at all for impressive
prayer for the minute we seek God he is
already there.
The organ prelude at Carmel
Presbyterian Church in Hensall Sunday
was played by organist Carolyn Love. Rev.
Mark Called the congregation to worship.
Assisting Rev. Mark with the scripture
readings was elder Robert Taylor. The
Sanctus was sung and prayer of adoration
and psalm of praise and prayer of confes-
sion and pardon were given. Rev. Mark
gave the Lenten reading and prayer.
The sermon entitled "Dealing with
Temptation" has applied to and still ap-
plies to us all. Several hynuls were sung,
and the offering, doxology and dedication
preceded the announcements.
Announcements: The church season of
Lent began this past week on Ash Wednes-
day,and it will continue for the next 40
days and six Sundays, until Easter Day
(April 15). It is a period of discipline, but
not of a negative type. As someone has
said, "Lent consists of doing something,
not in merely doing without something".
Rev. Mark will be away at a meeting
March 5 to 7. In the event of a pastoral

Queensway residents whip up batch of scones
Hello! Welcome to Queensway News.
Fun and Fitness started the day Monday
morning with lots of bending and stret-
ching to loosen everyone up. Residents
played their last Bingo with the Kippen
United Church Women on Monday after-
noon and will miss their, weekly visit.
Tuesday afternoon Reverend Mark

the worship service with Edith Bell as

everyone enjoyed fresh from the oven.
Residents gathered in the Activity Room,
Friday afternoon to draw items suitable to
St. Patrick's Day. Many made shamrock
cards for their special someone. Informa-
tion Day, Goderich has been cancelled un-
til next month.
Coming events are: March 17 at 2:30 pm
the St. Patrick's Day party. March 29 at
2 pm the Birthday Party with entertain-
ment by Gladys Van Egmond and Group.

Federal Income Tax charge of $5,153 was
figured into the 1989 total. This is the first
time in the last five years that the com-
pany has had to pay tax, for under the
provisions of the Canada Income Tax Act
which has been in effect in previous years,
McKillop Mutual was exempt from income
taxes as it earned at least 50% of its
premium income from farm insurance.
This was not the case in 1989.

Concession, west of Walton, they thought
that it was a police dog. A second look
convinced them that it was a wolf, and the
chase was on. It was not until the next day
that the hunt was successful when Ton
Bennett brought the wolf down in a bush
two miles north of the village.
Miss Carol Brown, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Brown, Seaforth, has been
awarded her Associate Solo Performer's
Degree in piano from both the Royal Con-
servatory of Music and the Western Con-
servatory of Music. Miss Brown, who has
been studying piano since the age of five,
is the organist for the First Presbyterian
Church and the pianist for the Junior
Farmer choir.
Truck driver Anthony Al, 21, of Walker-
ton, escaped uninjured Thursday afternoon
when his truck, loaded with 2,500 crated
chickens, rolled into a ditch. The accident,
just north of Hensall on Highway 4, killed
30 chickens and $400 damage to the truck.
The chickens on the loose were quickly
