IN MEMORIAM HARRIS In memory of my beloved husband Albert (Bert) Harris, who passed away February 15, 1989: God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He closed His arms around you And whispered "come to me". You suffered much In silence Your spirit did not bend, You fought' your pain with courage Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay Your fight was all In vain, God took you to His lovely home And freed you from all pain. Farmers from page IIA Steve Willis, administrative planning expert on the forage plan, explained the workings of the current program to those farmers present. The Simulated Forage Yield Model (SIkIFOY) was implemented in 1977. It is assessed by way of township soil types, weather variables, soil evaporation, temperature, rain, sun hours, species of plant, and transpiration of plant. All of this is then compared with a 30 year average. Then two processes are implemented called Narrowing and Circle Search. Narrowing examines the amount of area rainfall and how this would effect a hay/pasture crop. Mr. Willis stated that the number of sub -stations set up to catch rainfall had been increased to make the area smaller, thus allowing for fluctuations. Some sub -station locations include Lucknow, Wroxeter, Saltford, Walton, Brucefleld, Exeter, and Huron Park. Circle Search is a comparison of rain- fall on farms involved in the same option within a three mile radius. In Huron County, this radius remains at three miles no matter the number of farmers involved in the program. In all other pacts of the province, the circle is widen- ed until three farmers that are involved in the program are located within the circle. Periodically throughout Mr. Willis' ex- planation, farmers voiced very strong views on their opinion of the current program. One audience member commented, "There isn't anybody going to buy in- surance in Hay Township if this doesn't change."
