Eisler, Brasseur take bronze
Seaforth native Lloyd Eisler, and his
partner Isabelle Brasseur, were unable to
defend their Canadian Figure Skating
Senior Pairs title during the 1990 competi-
tion last week in Sudbury. Eisler and
Brasseur had to settle for bronze this
year after a relatively poor free -skating
display Thursday night, which included
two falls by Brasseur. Cindy Landry and
Lyndon Johnston, whom Eisler and
Brasseur edged last year for the title,
were the victors this year, with Christine
Hough and Doug Ladret finishing second.
"I don't really know what happened,"
said Eisler, "Maybe we were thinking too
far ahead to Halifax (and the world
championship) and let our guard down."

Transfer Project
Surface Water 'Takings
Our fresh water is a shared precious resource.
Environment Ontario's Permit to Take Water Program requires
corporations and individuals taking more than 50,000 litres of
water per day from streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, reservoirs
or groundwater sources to obtain a permit in accordance
with the Ontario Water Resources Act,
Under a two-year pilot project, administration of the Permit
to Take Water Program will be transferred to several conser-
vation authorities. This pilot project will determine the feasi-
bility of transferring program administration to all
conservation authorities.
Only the administration of surface water takings will be
transferred to the conservation authorities, while administra-
tion of takings from groundwater sources will remain with
Environment Ontario.
Effective March 1, 1990, matters relating to surface water
permits should be referred to your local conservation
authority.
