The Seaforth Club was pleased to have been represented in the West Challenge Round in Southampton by Gord Pryce, Dave Ste. Marie, Ron Pryce and Dave Campbell last weekend. We are proud of our fellows, even though they were edged out by Owen Sound 6-5 and lost to Bob In- gram of Chatham 6-2 in the 16 rink double knockout event. This is big time curling with some of Ontario's top curlers com- peting to advance to the Ontario finals and eventually the coveted Brier. Gordon Pryce said it was a great experience to be on the sheet of ice next to Russ Howard, a world champion. The Sunday morning hockey players had some fun on the curling ice again this week and enjoyed breakfast prepared and served by the members of the Club. Although the hard- ware was spirited off by Fergus, who also was the winner of the second draw, and Karen Kirk's Goderich rink who won the first draw, the home club members were most gracious hosts and hostesses. The ladies were piped onto the ice by John Jewitt. The men's Club prepared and serv- ed a delicious roast pork banquet for which many were most grateful it wasn't the 'haggis.' The swirl of the pipes, played by John, ushered in Neil McGavin "clasping the blade" followed by stretcher bearers Gary McNichol and Neil Dolmage carrying the haggis (all suitabley attired in their surgical coats.) As the "address to the Haggis" began, it sounded as if Robbie Burns himself had arrived for the occa- sion, but after a wee peek under his tam 'o' shanter, we knew it was our own Beecher Menzies. It was a fitting tradition for the day and enjoyed by all. Two ladies rinks went to Exeter on Saturday, January 27. Flo Smith's rink of Elaine Floyd, Linda Gingerich and Jan Moore won the Consolation event. Joan. Beuerman, Loretta Dolmage, Elsie Beuer- man and Ann Bosman won one game and lost their second game.
