PLAN FOR THE NEW YEAR
It was a joint meeting of the units of the
United Church Women when 17 ladies met
Wednesday evening for the first meeting in
the New Year.
Devotions were led by Doreen Hackwell
and Marie McGavin was pianist for the
hymn. Scripture was read by Gloria Love
followed by a meditation given by Marion
Godkin. Gloria read a poem, "New Year's
Resolution". Doreen closed this part of the
meeting with prayer.
Marie McGavin had the topic on
Stewardship and Finance and showed a
film strip on "The names of Money" show-
ing the material things we need in life.
This was followed with a discussion.
Dorothy Sholdice presided for the
business opening by repeating the U.C.W.
Purpose. Doreen Hackwel read the minutes
in absence of Marilyn McDonald, then read
a thank you card and attended to the cor-
respondence. It was moved that the
membership fees be the same as last year.
They are due by the end of February. It
was also suggested they be collected at
next month's unit meeting.
It was decided to have a Spring Daffodil
Tea and bake table again this spring, with
the tentative date set for April 21. Plans
are to be made at a later meeting. UCW
members are to save the Zehrs and
Knechtel tapes and Campbell soup labels
can be left in boxes in the Sunday School
room. Dates for coming events were
announced.
Annual meetings will be following a
potluck luncheon after church on Sunday,
January 21 at Bluevale; and Sunday,
January 28 at Walton. Note that on
January 28 the service times will be
changed with Bluevale having the early
service at 9:55 a.m.
Next month there will be an executive
meeting on February 7 at 7:30 p.m. Units
will have their separate meetings.
Dorothy closed with prayer. Olene Den-
nis and Phyllis Mitchell served lunch dur-
ing a time of fellowship.
