The Seaforth Bantam hbl key team made - vousness on: the pail of.. some WI*

Pearson International Airport in Toronto
on the first lel of their Denmuark odyssey.
meowing to Betty ,Beuttentniller, who
was at the arena on Boxing Day to see off
son Jason, and husband Bob. -:a coach for
the team - the bus left et 12:15 p.m. as
scheduled. She adds that there was plenty
of excitement, and a fair „share of nor -
players
"That bus was getting' ready,, unfit was

A play-by-play ,update on the team's

On Thursday, December 21, the Thurs-
day Nighters bowling league celebrated
Christmas and the end of the eighties with
some super bowling and a lot of fun.
The annual "Donkey Bowling" competi-
tion provided lots of enjoyment, as well as
some
lucky pie winners. High Ladies'
Sherry Turney, Low ladies' Score
- Sharon Marshall, Hidden Score - Sandra
Butt.
High Men's - Doug Vock, Low Men's -
Pat Ryan, Hidden Score - Don Deighton.
The league turkey draw - (one per team)
went to Doug Proctor, Dave Deighton,
Sherry Tanney, Doug Vock, Sheila Taylor
and Doug Leonhardt.
Peewee "CC"
play a game
full of heart
Seaforth PeeWee "CC" received an un-
wanted Xmas present in Listowel on Satur-
day, December 23 when Jason Henderson
was checked from behind, breaking his
collar -bone and Jamie McNichol pulled a
leg muscle early in the game. Assistant
coach Jim Moore, at the helm alone, did
a fantastic job of keeping the flu -stricken
"CC"s in the game. Very short shifts for
the eight skaters that were left following
the injuries was all that could. be done.
Listowel scored the first goal, minutes
before an ambulance had to be called for
Jason Henderson. Jim Moore commented
that the boys gave 105 per cent and kept
Listowel struggling to hold the one -goal
lead. It was the last minute of the third
period before Listowel could score another
goal on Adam Agar, who stopped countless
shots during the game. Listowel won this
game 2 - 0, but Seaforth PeeWee "CC"s
deserve all of the praise.
Starlight Lades also donated a turkey,
won bei Donna Beuerman, and a cheese
basket, won by Bob Wright.
With "Donkey Bowling" in the third
game, only two games were bowled
team competition and each match -up
managed to split their games 'one each,
with an extra point awarded for total pins.
The Ballbangers were 'three-point vein-
ners against the Bears. Leading the- team
was Doug Proctor with a 255 -single and
488 double. Shelly McKellar also had a
super night with a 218 game.
The Bears were led by spare Murray
Bennewies with a 340 game. Karl Teichert
rolled a 249 and Sandra Butt also spared
for the team and recorded a 201.,

prevailed taking three of five points from
the Guttercats and breaking their third
place tie. The Wildcats were led by Ralph
Johnston with 281/494 double. Don Deighton
added a 257, Gary Bedard a 220 and

happening on lanes five and six with

for three of five points over first place
Highway +111.

single/618 double to lead Beatlejulce. Brian
Dale had a personal season gh of 299,
Erich Matzold rolled a 461 double and
Diana Steep contributed a 187 to the cause.
Countering for Highway ' 11 was Doug
Vock with a 330 single/567 double, also a
personal season high. Jack Ungarian
recorded a 417 double and Carol Johnston
rolled a 243 game.
The league is looking forward to con-
tinued hot team competition as well as
personal achievements in 1990!
--travelling`-around—toe country for their
games. At last report, the team had lost
the first two of their 'seven scheduled con-
te, but•their opponents are at a definite
home -ice advantage.
The team is expected to arrive back at
home on Saturday, 'January 6, and their
`tour bus' should be at the Seaforth
District Arena by 8 p.m. Come on out and
welcome them!

ANOTHER ANGLE OF THE GAME - The referee might not be looking, but Mike
Murray probably found something wrong with his unexpected vantage point dur-
ing Friday night's game against Tavistock. Flying players notwithstanding,
Centenaires won the match 6-4. Elliott photo.

This week's Fitness Tip: What is a safe
amount of weight to lose in one week?
• Aim for a gradual weight loss of one to
two pounds per week. You didn't gain it all
overnight, so you don't have to lose it all
overnight. Cutting back too severely on
calories increases the risk of health pro-
blems. You can go to a dietician or nutri-
tionist for counselling.
