The declaration was followed by a large cheer and enthusiastic applause. The acquisition and restoration of the St. Joseph's Kingsbridge Church to once again serve the community as the St. Joseph's Community Kingsbridge Centre was all about preserving history and providing a community hub for the future generations. Among the youngest to attend this historic ceremony on August 22, 2015 were infant cousins, shown here with their mothers. This is a new position for Watt, as well. He was intrigued and impressed with the Kingsbridge com- munity in their working through the process to have this opening come to fruition. VanDiepenbeek also com- mended the building commit- tee, stating concerning histor- ical buildings, "when they are gone, they are gone forever if nobody takes them on." Warden Paul Gowing spoke on behalf of the County of Huron. The County is honoured and privileged to have this resource preserved and repurposed for their con- stituents' use. Huron -Bruce MP Ben Lobb remarked on how the building decor reflected rural Ontario small commu- nities. "There is not a lot of fluff and glamour, but there is the simple beauty." He is impressed by the unique fact that this project was done by and for the love of the mem- bers of the community, "not by a bunch of politicians': Following an emotional and joyful performance by the Kingsbridge Quartet, which was duly informed to their suprise that they are now officially the resident quartet, Jim Van Osch spoke for the building committee. He described the phases of the work to restore and reno- vate. Of particular note is the original stained-glass win- dows have begun to be restored and glazed for pro- tection. The goal of the com- mittee is to have the building fully accessible, both upstairs and down. Van Osch invited those in attend- ance to tour the parts of the building that are now opened, to review the panels on display on the stage, remarking that what they showed were suggestions of what is to be done, but urg- ing those in the community to bring their own opinions and suggestions to the com- mittee in order to incorpo- rate the best ideas into plans going forward. A highlight of the evening was a performance of the Kingsbridge Choir led by Marianne Hogan and accompanied by Brigett Hayden on the fiddle, organist Brenda Manderson and Jennifer Miltenburg who began with playing guitar, but moved to the drums for the final song. The choir per- formed "My Land" followed by "We Rise Again" during which there was a growing energy being built in the crowd. The crowning piece was a triumphant rendition of "Revival" which brought the crowd to their feet in a standing ovation.
