Thanksgiving is all about giv- ing thanks for the bounty of har- vest and having everything we need to sustain us. It seems only proper that the local fall fairs lead up to this celebration of all things derived from farming. Many more photos from the Ripley Fall Fair are spread throughout this edition of the Sentinel. To ensure that more house- holds have a happy Thanksgiving with a wholesome feast, Mont- gomery Bus Lines has again held their annual Stuff the Bus food drive in several communities for the North Huron Community Food Share. What better way to give thanks for our availability of nutritious food that to share the excess with those who often go without. There is still a chance to donate food during a campaign as the Huron County Library holds its Foor for Fines program. The Huron County Health Unit is cautioning those who are preparing their Thanksgiving feast to be care- ful in handling, preparing, cooking and storing turkey. There was a large turnout to feast on the wings at the Luc - know Legion Wing Night that had musical entertainment by The Crippled Duck, a brother and sister duo from Belmore and Wingham. Congratulations to Danceology students Taylor Pollard and Emily Plumsteel who came out on top at the Western Fair's Rise 2 Fame Youth Talent Search. Kudos to the rest of the competitors from the Danceology studio. Remember to check that you are correctly registered to vote in the Federal Election coming up quickly. Be sure to read the responses the Huron -Bruce candidates gave during the recent All -Candidates Debate in Holmesville. Huron -Kinloss Council has been busy, as well, getting things in order and taking care of business. Those who live in the Township should be giving thanks to have such a dedicated Council to take on the decision- making required to serve the constituents. Huron -Kinloss is consistently a leader, often ahead of other municipalities and levels of government. Although we are celebrating the bounty of the fall harvest, there are signs that winter will be upon us sooner than later. The Ontario Federation of Snowmo- bilers has announced their early permit discount again this year. The hockey news will now begin to grace the sports page again for another season of competition. Please remember that due to the holiday Monday coming up, all advertising and editorial con- tent and submissions are due on this Thursday at 2 p.m. instead of Friday. Please stories, reports and photos (in .jpg format please) to lucknow.editorial@sunmedia.ca. Coming up on Wednesday, October 7 the Lucknow Library will host a free showing of the movie "Boyschoir': "Boyschoir'; starring Dus- tin Hoffman, is the story of Stet, a troubled and angry 11 -year-old orphan from a small Texas town, who ends up at a Boy Choir school back East after the death of his single mom. Completely out of his element, he finds himself in a battle of wills with a demanding Choir Master who recognizes a unique talent in this young boy as he pushes him to dis- cover his creative heart and soul in music. Trailer-http s: / /youtu. be/1MW16-m1DD4. Movie starts at 6:30 p.m. See you on October 7, Grant Lucknow News Ruth Dobrensky Another summer has ended and fall is upon us. Like many of you I tried to take in the supermoon lunar eclipse last week- end. The so-called blood moon was not quite so clear and red looking from where I live but I was able to watch most of the eclipse until I got tired and went to bed around 12:30 a.m. I did attempt to take some pictures but my little camera wasn't good enough so I had to rely on the images that others with really good cameras were able to take and put on the telly and on-line. Last Friday night, quite a few people from Lucknow, many of them former St. Peter's congregation members, spent a fun night with the St. Paul's - Trinity Anglican congrega- tion in Wingham at their annual Trivia Night. Not only is this annual event a "fun" fund-raiser, it's a good chance for people to see how much trivia they really know. This year there was some extra fun as all were asked to wear their "best decorated Hal- loween hats", the team with the best hats won a prize. There were many other prizes along with great snacks and a lot of laughs. Coming up in a couple of weeks is a special 100th CGIT anniversary celebra- tion to be held at Lucknow United Church. Check the flyers around town and the ad in the paper for date and time. All friends, members and former leaders and members are welcome. Congratulations to all the 4-H 2015 Beef Invita- tional Show winners. You all did a superb job. Sympathy of the com- munity to the families of: Betty Ann Zagorodny, 71, Walkerton; and, Rhett Daw, 8 days, Wingham. Planning an event? Don't forget to advertise! The Lucknow Sentinel 519-528-2822
