chamber executive meets
The Lucknow and District Cham-
ber of Commerce (COC) held its
executive meeting Nov 16 at Nine
Waves/Protekta Inc.
Taking part was Kayla Howald,
Morten Jakobsen, Paul Zinn, Elaine
Steer and Rod McDonagh.
Membership chair Paul Zinn
reported that the number of paid
up members for 2015 was 73.
There was discussion regarding the
amount of membership fee to
apply for 2016. Steer motioned that
the annual fee remain unchanged
at $80.
A letter was received from
Huron County Planning and
Development asking for the dates
of our community projects in 2016
for their annual tourism publica-
tion. Events for 2016 so far include
the Easter Egg Hunt planned for
Sat., March 26, 2016, Town Wide
Yard Sale Sat., April 30, 2016 and
Santa Claus Parade - Fri., Nov. 25,
2016.
Jakobsen said he, Howald, Rick
McMurray and McDonagh
attended the Nov. 2 Huron -Kin-
loss Council Meeting where they
highlighted some areas of con-
cern in the Village of Lucknow.
Jakobsen prepared a power point
presentation showing infrastruc-
ture needs. Director of Public
Works Hugh Nichol is to contact
the executive in order to set up a
meeting in relation to our
concerns on the condition of
sidewalks, regular weed control
and sweeping and maintenance
of the streets. To date, contact has
not been made.
Mayor Mitch Twolan asked the
COC membership be encouraged
to participate in current Township
initiatives such as Nuclear Waste
Adaptive Phased Management
Process, the Natural Gas Project
and the Official Plan process. It
was pointed out that these pro-
jects will contribute to the eco-
nomic viability of Lucknow and
the continued growth of
Huron -Kinloss.
The Chamber of Commerce
Christmas Party is Dec. 5 at the
Community Centre.
Nominees are needed for this
year's Community Service Award.
Nominee forms can be picked up
at McDonagh Insurance Brokers
office, with a deadline of Dec. 7 for
submissions.
There was discussion about
possible guest speakers for
upcoming meetings. It was felt
that this might attract more mem-
bers to attend. The membership is
asked to advise Rod McDonagh of
any possible speakers that could
be asked.
Next General Meeting is sched-
uled for Tues., Dec. 8 in the Multi
Purpose Room of the Lucknow
Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
Five more victims identified in
historic sexual assault case
The Huron County OPP Crim-
inal Investigations Unit has
identified more victims in an
ongoing historical sexual
assault investigation that
dates back to between 1971
and 1995.
Five additional victims have
been identified who were all
between the ages of 10 and 21
when the offences took place.
Officers determined that the
accused gained access to the vic-
tims through his employment at
the Wingham & District Hospital
and through his volunteer work as
a Scout Leader with the 1st Wing -
ham Scout troop.
As a result of the further inves-
tigation, Martin CRETIER, 71
years of age from North Huron, is
facing the following, additional
charges:
• Six counts of Indecent Assault,
contrary to section 156 of the Crim-
inal Code
• One count of Indecent Assault,
contrary to section 149 (1) of the
Criminal Code
• Eight counts of Gross
Indecency, contrary to section 157
of the Criminal Code
• Two counts of Sexual Assault,
contrary to section 271 of the Crim-
inal Code
• One count of Sexual Assault,
contrary to section 246.1 (1) of the
Criminal Code
• Two counts of Forcible Con-
finement, contrary to section
247(2) of the Criminal Code
• One count of Sexual Exploita-
tion, contrary to section 153 (1)(a)
of the Criminal Code
He has since been released from
custody with a court appearance
scheduled for Dec. 10, 2015 at the
Ontario Court of Justice
- Wingham.
