Reeve of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Ben Vandiepenbeek, spoke at the Remembrance
Ceremony held in Lucknow on November 11, 2015. After a lot of work by a group of citizens
interested in preserving history in Ashfield Township, it was discovered that the names of the
veterans from Ashfield Township had not been placed on any cenotaph. With permission from
Lucknow Legion Branch 309, the names are now inscribed in the Lucknow cenotaph and
were read out by Vandiepenbeek during the ceremony.
