The Sunday School stu-
dents of Lucknow United
Church placed the crosses at
the Lucknow cenotaph on
Sunday, November 1, 2015
in preparation for the
Remembrance Day
ceremony.
In previous years, the
crosses had been placed by
the Guiding Clubs. When
this was not an option for
this year, the Sunday
School students stepped up
to help the Lucknow Poppy
Committee perform
this task.
Before placing the crosses,
the children visited the
Legion Branch 309 to see the
displays of the wartime arti-
facts, photos, uniforms and
other items on display.
Each cross is a memorial
that bears the name of a
local veteran who has
passed away. The Poppy
Committee makes it more
special for the children who
help by taking the time to
try to match the memorial
crosses to the child who
would have the closest con-
nection to that veteran,
when possible.
