The Lucknow 4-H
Beef Club held their
annual fundraising
barbecue on a beautiful
May 9, 2015 with the sup-
port of Hodgin's Home
Hardware, Greens Meat
Market and Knechtel's
Lucknow Village Market.
The menu was
hamburgers, hot dogs
and beverages with all the
fixings, including the
option of adding fried
onions. All meals were
purchased by donation to
the 4-H club.
Diner Ron Alton
was pleased to be able
to say that the
club was serving choice
hamburgers. Don
and Sherry Alton added
that not only the burgers
were good, but it was also
good service, good
organizers and a good
organization.
During a well-earned
break, 4-H member
Michaela Rodger reported
that they had been busy for
the whole time with still half
of their four hour shift to
finish
The club would like to
thank the community for
their continuous support
and for the great turnout.
This event is obviously a
very popular one to enjoy
good food and good com-
pany at the beginning of
the outdoor dining
season.
The Lucknow 4-H Beef club thanks Laura Johnston from Hodgin's Home Hardware for their
support of the club with hosting a Barbecue on Saturday, May 9, 2015.

Lucknow UCW Afternoon
Group met on a sunny, warm
May 5 at River Valley Apts.
Karen Latour and Edna Alton
delighted us with a luncheon
of soup and grilled panini
buns with our choice of fill-
ings and then angel food cake
and whipped cream sprin-
kled with raspberries and
blueberries. Delicious!
Eventually, our meeting
came to order with Karen
reading a list comparing
prices of various commodi-
ties by the gallon—water
very expensive. March and
April minutes were
read. Twelve members
answered roll call with items
to give to local women's
shelters. Joyce Adamson's
was the only birthday in
April.
Helen Cleland read the
Least Coin newsletter hon-
ouring mothers around the
world which asked us to pray
for mothers in war zones, in
Nigeria of kidnapped daugh-
ters, in Canada of missing
indigenous daughters,
mothers struggling in pov-
erty and earthquake losses
in Nepal. We repeated the
Prayer of the Least Coin.
Shirley Bolt gave the
Treasurer's report and col-
lected our Bakeless Bake
Sale envelopes.
Karen read about how we
often learn more from our
mistakes. Mary Boyle shared
some interesting and
humorous insights about
grandmothers. Gertie Hen-
derson read from our Luc -
know Church history book
about "The Old Church
Bell': This had us wondering
why our Church bell isn't
rung anymore on Sunday
mornings before church, so
we'll hope to have this old
tradition calling us to wor-
ship restarted.
Karen reported on a suc-
cessful Yard and Bake sale at
the Church on May 2. We are
glad to have Deanna Reavie
home from their winter in
Arizona, to have most senior
member Jean Macleod in
attendance and Helen Cle-
land too recovering well
from a winter fall.
We closed the meeting
with the UCW Prayer.
