Moffats Receive the Community
Service Award for 2014
Lucknow & District Chamber of
Commerce
Ean and Amanda Moffat
have been chosen by the
Lucknow & District Cham-
ber of Commerce as the
recipients of the 2014
Community Service
Award. The award is to
recognize generosity to
the town through deeds or
contributions, charitable
works or business
achievement that helped
develop and strengthen
the town.
The nomination form
submitted to the Chamber
of Commerce describes
why the Moffats are
deserving of the award. It
was so well written that
the commendation is
reprinted here, as
submitted.
In the first section of the
Nomination form the type
of service provided by the
i II: run - Kinion
jimisimaii
nominees is set out.
Ean and Amanda are
very active in the commu-
nity, both personally and
as the owners of
Moffitness.
Ean coaches minor
hockey, oversees much of
the Lancers participation
in the community and
Lancer fundraising and is
a volunteer at many com-
munity events such as
Lucknow's Music in the
Fields and Summerfest.
Amanda coaches minor
soccer and sits on the
minor hockey board. She
sits on the LCPS SCC and
also speaks to the kids at
LCPS about healthy active
living. Amanda also pro-
motes the Terry Fox run
and other local charity
races.
Together, as owners of
Moffitness, Ean and
Amanda sponsor a num-
ber of worthwhile local
initiatives, such as the
Lucknow Little Mudder.
They have rallied the gym
members together to sup-
port local runner Julie
Anne Staehli on her
Uganda trip; and again to
support the ALS Ice
Bucket Challenge.
Amanda has been a Lit-
tle Mudder Committee
member since day one
and given up a great deal
of time as she drove
around collecting spon-
sorship pledges and
increasing community
support for this event. Ean
has been a faithful accom-
plice, following the many,
many orders his is given
as the official tractor oper-
ator of the Lucknow Little
Mudder (LLM). The LLM
has also used bales pro-
vided by Moffat farms. It is
because of people like Ean
and Amanda that this
event has raised over
$10,000 to support the Fall
Fair and Lucknow Agricul-
tural Society.
The second section of
the form is to outline why
the person submitting the
Nomination believes the
recognition is deserved
for the candidate.
Having the pleasure of
getting to know Ean and
Amanda over the past few
years, I realize one thing:
they're busy. Yet most of
what they're busy doing,
they don't get paid for.
They don't ask to be rec-
ognized. I know they are
not looking for a "pat on
the back", but they have
certainly earned one. For
all the nights they spend
heading in different direc-
tions to support various
community groups, clubs
or teams, it's time for Luc -
know to say thanks to such
an outstanding couple.
