It's Summer
Summer and the warm
weather are here. This
edition of the Sentinel is
filled with lots of people being
active.
The weather was beautiful
for the Wingham Fishing
Derby, playground opening in
Point Clark and the Legion
track meet. Golfers are in full
swing.
Indoors, Sepoy Manor resi-
dents enjoyed a taste of Italy
and two local youth have
earned their yellow belts in
karate.
Please be extra careful driv-
ing as school is soon letting
out and children will be
excited to begin their summer
holidays. To kick off the
summer, be sure to enjoy
the Lucknow Strawberry Sum-
merfest this weekend. See you
there!
Kinloss Kairshea WI
The Kinloss Kairshea WI
held their Sunshine Sister
meeting at the Lucknow
Town Hall on June 16.
Vice president Joan Murray
opened the meeting with the
Opening Ode and Mary Stew-
art Collect, followed by the
WI Grace.
Everyone enjoyed a fabu-
lous potluck lunch with host-
esses Joan Murray and Marg
Stanley.
Irlma Haldenby gave the
minutes and Gladys Johnston
the financial report. Irlma gave
an excellent report of the Dis-
trict Annual that she attended.
Birthdays celebrated in July
were Alice Ritchie and Sha-
ron MacDougall. Alice had a
funny reading.
Marg Stanley had a contest
on "cakes and pies", won by
June Gilchrist, Irlma Hal-
denby and Irene Haldenby.
Irlma had a reading

Ruth Dobrensky
St. Peter's Anglican ACW
met last week for a pot luck
lunch at Rivervalley Apart-
ments. Special guests for the
day were ladies of the Church
of the Ascension in Kinlough.
A wonderful variety of food
was followed by games, devo-
tions and a sing -along led by
Ann Pritchard.
The Lucknow Sepoy
Ranees spent an enjoyable
time at Grassroots and
Whitefields Farm. We were
given a delicious lunch at
Grassroots and then spent a
wonderful time seeing and
hearing all about the straw
house at Whitefields Farm. If
you haven't been out there,
give them a call and take a
trip out there, it makes for an
interesting and educational
time. While there, I relayed
some new information to the
Sepoy Ranees about the Seige
of Lucknow. One of the
Indian heroines and leader of
her own army against the
British was the Jhansi Ranee
(Queen) who is still hon-
oured in India today. I always
cheer for the underdog, so
hurrah for the Jhansi Ranee.
Dungannon held their
town wide yard sale this past
weekend, another chance to
find a bargain or a treasure
for all you shoppers out there.
The Super Pull was also a big
draw to Dungannon this past
The roll call was the Sun-
shine Sister gift exchange and
then everyone showed their
sisters gift and many thank
yous. Irene took pictures of
members and their gifts.
Joan and Marg are looking
into the Christmas Dinner.
June Gilchrist gave the
courtesies and a great year
closed with "0 Canada':
Next meeting is at Nine
Mile Villa on August 20 and is
the fun meeting.
Saturday for all you tractor
enthusiasts.
This coming weekend Luc -
know will be hosting our
annual Strawberry Summer -
fest. Unfortunately, I'll be
away attending the Dobren-
sky family reunion in the
States. I'll be making a week-
end of it and spending the
weekend with my cousin Jean
and her husband Tom in
Youngstown, N.Y.

Lucknow Summerfest Update
Volunteers
needed for
Summerfest
Valerie Gillies
Lucknow Sentinel
If you have some free time
this weekend, consider
spending some of it helping
out the Lucknow Strawberry
Summerfest Committee.
Areas that still require volun-
teers are the Kid Zone, barbe-
cue, street crossing guards
and the Legion breakfast.
There are still lots of jobs
other than these where you
can help. The committee
advises that the only criteria
for being a volunteer are to be
human and have hands and a
heartbeat.
There are spaces still available
at the vendors market which will
be set up in the parking lot of the
Sports Complex. For informa-
tion or registration visit the Face -
book page at Lucknow
Summerfest.
Be sure to try out the Trivia
Contest.
The Scavenger Hunt is for
adults, or an child accompanied
by an adult. Find Red Berrington
in participating businesses
throughout Lucknow. Entries
are to be returned to the bakery
by Monday.
To become a volunteer or for
more info contact,
Mary Cranston at 519-955-0013
or Sue Gillespie at 519-395-3497.
Huron Bruce NDP nomination meeting
The Huron Bruce NDP
nomination is on. It could be
a tight and exciting
race with two nominees
running for Federal candidate
for Huron
Bruce in the October
election.
Gerard Creces is from the
Zurich area. He is a journalist
and
musician. As a reporter with
the Goderich Signal Star
and with the Clinton News
Record Gerard developed an
even more intimate
knowledge of the riding and
its people.
Jan Johnstone has been
with the Bluewater District
School Board for many
years as a trustee, as Chair
and as the Ontario Public
School Boards
Association representative
where she was Vice -chair of
the Western Region.
She is a resident of Kincar-
dine and trained social
worker with
experience in both Huron
and Bruce. Jan also ran as the
Huron Bruce NDP
candidate in the 1997 Fed-
eral and 2014 Provincial
elections.
