NEWS Fishing Day in Wingham Valerie Gillies Lucknow Sentinel The Wingham Sports- man Club held their annual Fishing Derby on a beautiful, sunny June 17. Allan Miller has been in charge of this project for over ten years and reports that the Sportsman Club loves it. It is all about the participants. Members of the club not only measure and prepare the fish for the participants to take home, but also circulate through the fishers to help with the actual catches. This year the pond was stocked with 200 speckled trout, but no one managed to catch the big ones this time around. Angela McPherson of Wingham Community Liv- ing believes that everyone who came out had caught at least one fish, and many had caught more. Many of the participants reported that they look forward to this event every year and love it. This year there were 25 Community Liv- ing fishers. Each participant was invited into the clubhouse for a break or when they were done fishing to enjoy hotdogs and a soft drink. In 2014 there were 44 fish caught. Jeff Lockridge reported that this year the total was 40 with the larg- est being a 14 inch trout caught by a young man named Travis. McPherson would like to thank the Sportsman Club on behalf of Wing - ham Community Living for providing such a great day.
