Bruce Power post -secondary scholarship program opens June 1

For the fifth consecutive
year, Bruce Power has
launched a scholarship pro-
gram aimed at students pur-
suing post -secondary educa-
tion in Bruce, Grey and
Huron counties.
Students attending post-
secondary school this fall
can apply for one of 100,
$500 scholarships. Students
who are enrolled in a skilled -
trade, college or university
for the 2015/16 academic
year are invited to apply
when it opens on June 1.
"Education opens so
many doors for people and,
as the region's largest
employer, we feel a responsi-
bility to encourage and sup-
port our youth in pursuing
post -secondary education,"
said Duncan Hawthorne,
President and CEO, Bruce
Power.
The scholarship pro-
gram, which builds on
existing Bruce Power com-
mencement awards for
Grade 8 and high school
graduates, as well as two
new scholarships for Abo-
riginal students,

Huron County and the Municipality of Huron East intend to control noxious
weeds along the following County and Municipal roadsides under their
respective jurisdiction:
The Following County Road Sides North of Highway 8
• Benmiller Line & Lucknow Line (Co.Rd. 1), London Road (Co.Rd. 4) from
Clinton to Blyth, Base Line (Co.Rd. 8) from Clinton to Co.Rd.25, North Line
(Co.Rd. 12) from Seaforth to Co.Rd. 25, Londesboro Road & Kinburn Line (Co.
Rd. 15), Winthrop Road (Co.Rd. 17), Belgrave Road (Co.Rd. 20), Donnybrook
Line (Co.Rd. 22), Blyth Road (Co.Rd. 25) from Hwy. 21 To Blyth, Sharpes Creek
Line, Londesboro Road & Saltford Road (Co.Rd. 31) from Hwy. 21 to Hwy. 8,
Amberley Road - both sides (Co.Rd. 86) from Lucknow to Co.Rd. 4.
Anyone not wishing to have the roadside adjacent to their property treated
for noxious weeds should contact Bert Middegaal at the Auburn Patrol Yard

The Following Municipality of Huron East Road Sides in the Geographic
Township of Tuckersmith:
• East of Highway 4 and South of Highway 8: Front Road, Tile Road Centennial
Road, Stone Road Chislehurst Road, Oak Road, Hensall Road, Walnut Road,
Staffa Road, Roman Road, Short Horn Road, Vanastra Road, Sanctuary Road,
Kinburn line, Division Line, Hanna Line and Morrison Line north of Rogerville
Road.
Anyone not wishing to have the roadside adjacent to their property treated
for noxious weeds should contact Barry Mills at the Municipality of Huron
East 519-527-0160.
Note: It is the responsibility of the property owner requesting no spray to
contact the appropriate person identified above each calendar year prior
to the application of weed spray. Property owners requesting no spray will
be responsible for all noxious weeds on the road allowance adjacent to their
property.
The County of Huron and The Municipality of Huron East will be using one or a
combination of the following pesticides. Clearview Herbicide Reg.#29752, Active
ingredients Metsulfuron-Methyl and Aminopyralid (present as potassium Salt)
Or Escort Herbicide Reg.#23005 Active ingredient Metsulfuron-Methyl and
Overdrive Herbicide Reg.#30065 Active ingredients Difluenzopyr (present as
sodium salt) and Dicamba (present as sodium salt), or Milestone Herbicide Reg.
#28517, Active ingredient Aminopyralid (present as potassium salt) or Garlon
XRT Herbicide Reg. #28945, Active Ingredient Triclopyr (Present as butoxyethyl
ester) under the Pest Control Products Act. (Canada).

some special considera-
tions are in place to ensure
a broad reach and diverse
group have the opportu-
nity to reach their goals.
The program's aim is to
reach as many students as
possible with a one-time
monetary pledge of sup-
port during their academic
studies.
"We hope that by provid-
ing an opportunity of finan-
cial assistance to eligible stu-
dents in our surrounding
communities, it will help to
cover some of the rising
costs of tuition," Hawthorne
said.
In 2015, Bruce Power will
invest $100,000 in scholar-
ships and commencement
awards for students
throughout our region. To

New Scholarships poised to help Local Students
make an impact in Science and Medicine

Grey Bruce
An endowed fund created
with Community Foundation
Grey Bruce will start providing
two scholarships annually to
assist local youth. The Marjorie
and Mac Gingrich Endowed
Fund will support first year to
third year post -secondary stu-
dents from Grey Bruce who are
studying medical sciences or
related research at a recog-
nized Canadian university.
The scholarships can sup-
port a range of studies, includ-
ing medical science, research,
nursing, or pre-med pro-
grams. Two scholarships of
$500 will be available this year,
with flexible distributions in
perpetuity each year thereaf-
ter through the earnings from
the endowed fund.
The scholarship was
begun by Marjorie Gingrich,
to mark her long career in
nursing and to honour the
memory of her late husband,
Mac Gingrich. Marjorie and
Mac Gingrich were both
raised in Bruce County and
have backgrounds in educa-
tion and nursing.
Mrs. Gingrich created this
important scholarship in
response to the Community
Foundation Grey Bruce's
matched funding program,
which matches fifty cents on
every dollar donated up to
