Dungannon potluck and music night Dungannon Seniors Hall Valerie Gillies Lucknow Sentinel For the first time on June 17, the Dungannon Seniors Hall committee held their potluck in the evening, rather than the usual lunch meal. This particular one featured a sing -along and a jam to attract a crowd. Barb Smyth explained that the potlucks are held to give the Dungannon Seniors Hall a financial boost. The time was changed to allow more people to attend, as many people work in the daytime. The time change worked as there was an excellent turn -out. Irene Markham was glad to see a good turnout. She is pleased that they always get good support from the com- munity. This particular night Markham observed, "There are a lot of different people than the usual crowd." Harpist Riley MacLen- nan played harp as people arrived at the hall. There was more food than those in attendance could eat for the meal. Following the meal, Anne Pritchard passed out song booklets, played the keyboard and led a lively singalong. The evening finished with a greatly enjoyed jam fea- turing Tom Melady and the group that plays at the jams held in Seaforth, with Marvin Scott as MC. Guest musicians who joined in included 3 -yr - old Jaxson Scott, Kayla Bishop on fiddle and Valerie Gillies. Markham thanks all of the entertainers who were cred- ited as the reason why so many people turned out and for making it such an enjoyable evening.
