Russ O'Handley of Kincar-
dine played guitar and banjo
while singing at Wing Night
on July 4 at the Lucknow
Legion Branch 309.
O'Handley used to do
tirathalons, but can no
longer participate. He took
up his new hobby of music
six years ago and has taken
lessons for three years with
Lucknow teacher Scott
Chow. O'Handley credits
Chow with his quick learn-
ing as Chow breaks down
the music into small chunks
that are easy to understand.
He also teaches musicians
how to chart music.
As a solo act, O'Handley
plays a mix of rock, country,
ballads and other music. He
smiles wide as he exclaims,
"I love doing the music!"
A lot of the music that
O'Handley performs is as a
volunteer. He plays in some
area long -term -care cen-
tres. He says when he starts
playing the banjo, "the old
guys really get their toes
tapping." He is happy to
bring the looks of joy to
their faces.
O'Handley can be heard at
the Wingham market, as well
as at some are car shows,
especially around Point
Clark. He looks forward to
growing his venues as he
grows with the music.
