The Storm that Stayed
Valerie Gillies
Editor, Lucknow Sentinel
Many people got an extended
Christmas vacation from Mother
Nature this past week. The storm
was in full force with snow, the cold-
est temperatures of the winter,
winds and slippery roads when the
work week started on Monday,
January 5, 2015. There was some
movement on Tuesday, which was
the only day that many schools were
able to be open. Tuesday night the
snows began again and wreaked
havoc on almost all of Southwestern
Ontario right through into Saturday,
January 10 with more of the messy
stuff expected on Monday as of time
of printing.
Valerie Gillies/Lucknow Sentinel
During a relatively clear part of the afternoon it was
evident by the messy roads and the snow pile in
Knechtel's Food Mart in Lucknow that there had been a
lot come down in less than 3 days at the beginning of
the storm. January 7, 2015.
Valerie Gillies/Lucknow Sentinel
Most of the area roads were closed on
Wednesday, January 7, 2015. This was
how it looked in the afternoon looking
along Bruce County Road #1 from the
north towards the main corner at Hwy
#86 in Lucknow.
Valerie Gillies/Lucknow Sentinel
Visibility was poor most of the first full
week of January. Roads were snow
covered and slippery. This is Wheeler
Street in Lucknow at noon looking east
across Bruce County Rd. #1 toward the
bridge. January 7, 2015.
